  2. Guys, Flying is dangerous. Those who chose to do it have the ultimate freedom of flight, but also the ultimate responsibility of their own safety and the safety of others, both in the aircraft and on the ground. They must also bear the weight of responsibility of the consequences of being killed or incapacitated, to them and their families. There are no silver bullets here, self regulation and responsibility are the only way to ensure the maximum safety. And there is no such thing as perfectly "safe". But there is such a thing as "unlucky". We don't know what happened to these poor people. We can try rationilize why, but it is a circular argument, there is no soultion to all these questions. I have enough problems dealing with these issues to keep me out of the air. I am struggling to weigh it all up and make sense, but what is becoming clear is that what we do is dangerous and has risk. Until I work it out and have some answers I can't fly again.
  3. Vmo in a texan is 90kts......
  4. Check any third party software (anti-virus, tec) which may be blocking outbound traffic. Try disabling it and see if it fixes it.
  5. And spent a week living on Loch Linhe, which is in the same chain of lochs as Loch Ness. Saw plenty of low-flying RAF Tornadoes and helicopters. And one solitary Jab J230.... I nearly fell off my chair when I saw it!!
  6. The LET-410, which is the russian made aircraft in the video, is statiscally the worlds most dangerous aircraft. More accidents\fatalities than any other aircraft.

  10. BIG difference between, LESS safe and UNSAFE...... I agree with what you are getting at though.

  12. Its not a requirement, but it does make access to information easier and faster. Therefore, should make flying safer. Therefore, you should have access to this better, faster information to ensure your flying is as safe as possible. I would see that as required.
  13. Lucky it happened during the day in good weather...... Lucky the pilot was game to slip a gliding 767 and knew how. Lucky they were within gliding distance of a suitable field. Lucky they were light enough to glide that far. Lucky they killed no one on the runway that was being used as a gokart track. Pilot was very skilful and a cool calm and collected type. Its better to be lucky than skillful! Skill doesn't move that mountain!
  14. I think this is a good representation of the kind of people who are members of this forum. However I did expect more linux\mac users. Linux because of the technical nature of some the forum members and mac because the number of mac users out there. All together a not surprising outcome.
  15. I can remember the very same thing being said for every Microsoft OS release to date! Replace "Vista" with operating system of choice!
