  1. No, the delegation is with an individual not a role.
  2. It’s not the qualification, it’s the CASA delegation.
  3. You need to check your facts on that one!
  4. The MARAP will continue, just be prepared to pay through the nose to receive the appropriate approvals.
  5. Because they are trying to prove a point, not sure what point. If you hold a CPL there are no exams to convert. I believe they should produce a guide to explain how their system works. ie exemption to certain rules and reg’s, which are effectively replaced by equivalent ops manual requirements.
  6. Ha ha, 4:52pm on a Friday afternoon, you are spot on Kasper.
  7. Same thing isn’t it?
  8. Nope, he resigned from RAAus to take up a position with CASA. His stint at CASA lasted less than a week for some reason. He’s now back with RAAus.
  9. The words “Titanic” and “deck chairs” come to mind. I check the RAA website regularly, there have been no new training modules released this year. The PDP didn’t get anywhere near eastern NSW and there are no links to the Safety Tool Kit documents. You’ve got to wonder what is going on at Fyshwick, morning / arvo tea and long lunches at the cafe up the road? Very poor performance. Log in - RAA - Intranet
  10. Didn’t see these jobs advertised?!
  11. Not sure, a loss to the organisation though.
  12. KJ? Or has there been a replacement?
  13. Yes, ask then follow up with email to confirm conversation.
  14. Maybe ring and ask the questions.
  15. Pretty sure this information is available online. Property details | NSW Planning Portal
  16. Apparently true... I wonder if he’ll sneak back into RAAus?
  17. The Freedom to Fly issue isn’t quite as AOPA are presenting it. I’m not a fan of either organisation, but I sure wish they’d stop the crap and work together to save the aviation industry in this country. CASA would be laughing at this infighting.
  18. Load factor is the result of AoA and Airspeed.
  19. Angle of attack, angle of attack, angle of attack
  20. That is a question best put to your flying instructor. A MAYDAY would be the appropriate call in the event of an engine failure. Whether you transmit the call on CTAF or area would depend on available time and if the CTAF is monitored. Remember your priorities (as indicated in other posts) are in the following order; Aviate, Navigate then Communicate. CAR 192 and 193 definition situations of Distress (MAYDAY) and Urgency (PAN) calls and are worth reading, here’s a link; https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2017C00094/250bed88-3995-49cf-b33b-ddd8210cc7fd
  21. Boating is the alternative... General Aviation in Australia is as good as dead and buried. - CASA and it’s unworkable rules. - Fuel companies withdrawing support from GA - lack of maintenance orgs - airports becoming very unfriendly towards anyone but airlines
  22. No, Bob. You’d be thinking of Max Munro?
  23. I’m keen to get the other sports orgs on our case. I suspect the threat of them losing their access might give them a little push!
  24. It would be interesting to play the risk management game with CASA and RAAus on this one. Sit down with the various players, identify the hazards and go about mitigating any risks. It would be a very interesting exercise, as would asking to see the CASA risk assessment on this current CTA project.
  25. Meanwhile Hot Air Balloon and Glider Pilots continue to have CTA / CTR access without the restrictions imposed on RAAus pilots. A classic example are the glider pilots who operate in class D on a daily basis at Camden with minimal training, no CASA medical, no GA Licence and no FTF limitations. This is not a safety issue, the regulations allow RAAus pilots to operate from Controlled airports when the tower is closed. Are CASA saying it’s safer for RAAus to mix with RPT at places like Wagga without ATC as opposed to Albury with ATC? Surely ATC would be seen to increase safety?
