  1. If nothing changes nothing changes!
  2. is there a Australian distributor in the pipeline for this engine yet ?
  3. Of course Geoff dual independent ignition does not need dc power .
  4. I'm glad you asked if a carb is set up properly they are fine feed it clean fuel and use carb heat when needed.the trouble with EFI even double redundent when the power fails it stops .Also if there is a problem with a carb it's usually easy to find.dont get me wrong I like the advantages of EFI I would just like the option of a carbie for some applications.
  5. I wonder how they adjust the tappets maybe hydraulic. The power to weight figures are good. The only thing I would like to see is a carb option.
  6. There is another way roller rockers and they add very little weight and yes I agree overheating any engine is one of the worst things you can do to it . Your idea to build a custom engine is a good one 。
  7. I myself would not fit them to a brand new engine only a situation where you had a severe overheating problem and you had warped and damaged heads in need of replacement.Did you see the Bristol at Temora with the 3300 in it they had made up their own alloy ducting system it looked very neat but I don't know how we'll it works. With the rocker geometry I would say you need it spot on so as not to push the valve sideways causing valve guide wear. You want the rocker to roll on the valve tip without wiping and causing valve tip and rocker face wear after all its an aircraft engine not a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower.
  8. Hi Geoff I dont know whether they would leak or or not I would not accept the ones I saw for my aircraft they may have been just demos I don't know .where the porosity was they would tend to leak oil.Are you going to fit some to your aircraft ?
  9. Yes I did as well I like the idea there was just a few things I thought could be improved upon first the castings were a bit porus with inclusions towards the pushrod tube holes probably the top of the mould when cast ,two the machine work on the combustion chambers was very rough and 3 I would have liked to see more thread in the holes for the water outlets just my thoughts.
  10. Back on subject did anybody have a look at the LCH heads at Temora this year?
  11. He still had one arm left so not completely armless lol
  12. Whats a nanny stater?Havnt heard that one before lol. Sorry I got off subject with the radial thing I just meant that if you wanted to see something that leaks a lot of oil look at one of those.Im not knocking Jabs at all one reason aircraft engines leak is because of positive crank case pressure if you want to minimise oil leaks a pcv system helps.
  13. It probably would lift your arm if it was shaped like an airfoil havnt you ever stuck your hand out of a car and played with the airflow as your dad drove along .
  14. True I was thinking of that but not as much as a radial
  15. Well hot air rises it may help cooling after shut down as well
  16. Tornado not as funny as it sounds maybe it would all work better exiting the top and sides entering the front and lower front of the cowl food for thought.
  17. Actually on top of the wing .Hi tornado what we are talking about is creating a localised low pressure by using a lip on the bottom of the cowl .But you make a good point you would think the top of the fuse would be a lower pressure.
  18. You have probably heard this before but the exit for the airflow is also very important you may need to try lips on the cowl to create a low pressure on the exit side.
  19. What sort of aircraft have you got it in jeff?
  20. I bet you sit in your hanger watching young flyers making basic mistakes and can't wait to bad mouth them to your mates instead of going out and offering them a hand or friendly advise !
  21. I nearly had a hearty just watching it I hope darwins theory doesn't catch up with them!
  22. Hi bill I don't have a conventional system on the aircraft that's why I was looking at the direct electrical approach
  23. Thanks Tornado they look ok I am wondering what the heating elements are. They only draw 5.5 amps .You would not need them on all the time and you can select 1 or 2 elements.
  24. I have no experience with them but they seem to run ok on jabirus in England where it's a lot colder I have no carb heating on my a/c so am looking at alternatives .
  25. Has anybody had anything to do with the electric carby heaters available for the bing carbs fitted to rotax and jabiru engines how well do they work?
