  1. Hey Pete, I pay $440 per year and I thought that was a pretty good deal. (plus hangar fees on top of that). Einsteins Relativity, It all depends on your position in the universe. I wouldn't mind being in your position though. Cheers
  2. If I could fly across the Tasman, I would take you up on that.
  3. Excellent Jaba, I have a D180 also and agree 100%
  4. Welcome Nick, look's like you have a nice aerodrome there.
  5. I always found the winds aloft was very accurate but the don't have them any more, are the GRIB winds the same as the winds aloft?
  6. ADSB would be good in these situations.
  7. Help. I have a hydraulic lifter 3300 engine, one of the last one's before they changed to the roller follower's. I am reading 32 psi oil pressure on my instruments at idle but don't have any oil going to the top end. The oil cooler and oil filter are cold but the sump feel's warm. I have had the lifter's apart and back together again, Is it possible for the oil to not get past the lifter's if I have put them back together wrong? (ie possibly the little plate's at the top upside down) Any suggestion's/help would be most appreciated. vfr
  8. Thanks gentlemen
  9. I have two cigarette lighter outlets powered by a single wire for charging ipad and phone in flight. How many amps will the system draw, what awg wire size will I need to run them both at the same time?
  10. I down loaded a free thirty day trial yesturday from the app store. Their website is still on line too.
  11. That's too late for me though, I would like to overlay my flight plan onto Google earth as a part of flight planning.

  13. The position of peak pressure above the piston is governed by the ignition timing, which can't be changed. Jabiru actually retarded the timing 5 deg to 20 deg some time ago.
  14. Go for it Ian. This app sounds better and better all the time!
  15. I have a gtr 200 in my plane, crystal clear...... vfr
  16. My GPS is spot on all the time, so much so that I have to make a conscious effort to navigate properly and use the GPS only as a backup. I don't know what's with these CASA people, they have got their heads in the clouds alright but not in planes.
  17. Actually it's just the same as the other guys have said, only I don't look at it as hundreds and tens , I just add or subtract 2 from the first two numbers of the track. I use FrankM's method too. vfr
  18. Hey VFR, could you unpack that a bit? Give us some worked examples? Seems like a good trick. Garfly. If you are tracking east, let's say 140 deg just add 2 to the hundreds and minus 2 from the tens =320 deg, if your track is westerly it's the opposite, say 270 then minus 2 from the hundreds and add 2 to the tens = 090. Pretty quick and easy. vfr
  19. I have used 10miles 135degrees from Wherever for a long time. my GPS gives bearing to so I have to deduct or add 180 degrees, which can be a slow job at busy times. Easy to reverse a track Yenn, plus 2 minus 2 or minus 2 plus 2 depending on the direction of your track.
  20. I put similar screens over my inlets. I didn't want any foreign objects going in there ether. Haven't tried them yet though.
  21. I have been spraying my plane with 2 Pak and have got some fine overspray on my acrylic canopy. Any suggestions on what to use to remove it?
  22. I fly a Sportstar with the vernier throttle, I didn't like it at first but I got used to it and don't mind it know. I have never experienced any of the problems that have been mentioned here it seem's to work fine. In saying that, I fitted friction throttles in my Zodiac. No play in the cable either Darryl.
  23. I can't decide between the bose A20 and the Lightspeed PFX. Unless you know people that have them, you can't try the out. I have a hearing problem so I want a top quality set.
  24. What the hell, I agree with everyone!........hmmmm
  25. I down loaded the new version and half of it wont even work. Very disappointed with it. I have had trouble in the past too. Personally I dont think it is anywhere near reliable enough for aviation use. No wonder they have a 500 page disclaimer. I will not be renewing my subscription when this one expires. I might look at Pocket FMS.
