  1. Yes I agree with you, you sound like you have some experiences with them too - The single Seat electric Aircraft I represent in Australia has been designed from the start to be electric so no heating issues have been noted yet. But we are only in initial testing stages. Runs very smooth however.
  2. I have an MX2, both 26% and 20% and I love the way they fly !! I have set this one up to fly FPV aerobatics with, alot of fun.
  3. Gosh I would not be using that paper weight in anything other than a motorised scooter where a bearing failure would only stop me getting home from the pub ! So many bad reviews on that motor. We are using a motor that puts out 30kw of power, so about the same as a rotax 337 ! http://www.jobymotors.com/
  4. Thanks for the help here - I think I will give RAA a call to confirm this. Cheers
  5. Yes agree that Ion`s match the performance but are less volatile than Lipos. That said, I have 3000+ on them and never had any issues apart from a few dead cells and puffing a few in my pylon racers but that was a few years ago when discharge rates were around 30-35. Now I have 65c discharge rates in my latest batteries. Yes, I be using them in my Single seat electric seaplane hopefully end of this year.
  6. Agh what a find !!! Amazing. I live in the city but will be building a Hangar in Rylstone as flying in and around Sydney is not much fun. Apart from Victor 1 but after you have done that many times even that starts to get old. Will you be using Ion batterys ? Or lipos ?
  7. Here a quick Video of my new SkyHunter FPV plane - Its a fairly big plane at 1900mm and that big wing does nice Aerobatics...
  8. Yeah seen that, complete with ciggie smoking pilot !
  9. Yeah I have followed Dales electric development from an early stage, did you write in to Sports pilot about your Lazairs by any change this addition ? It was in the 95:10 question area. You will have to fly in to my strip to say G`day !! Im in Rylstone airpark.
  10. This is one of the more practical electric ultralight
  11. Thanks for that - I know of a few PPGs that are electric as well as some trikes as in the youtube video above - But what.... ( oh ok, Ill join in...).. but WATT about fixed wing aircraft... ?
  12. Hi all, As part of some on going development I'm doing for my company, I would like to know if any one is flying, or knows of an electric aircraft flying ? RAA are not aware of one specifically registered as electric but admit that does not mean one is not flying. Thanks in advance G
  13. Yes indeed... I think I need to quickly read up on the matter at hand.
  14. Yes I took this into account as well. I doubt I would need any more STOL performance than this but nice to know in the future. Slightly off topic here but.. have the RAA got the registration issues worked out yet and would this aircraft be affected ?
  15. No not yet but that will change soon as I believe an order has been put in..
  16. Thanks mate !
  17. Ballpoint, thanks very much for the feedback here.. Its great to be able to get a review from someone who knows the aircraft. Im really glad you point out that TG`s take special attention and care.. and type training and as i was taught by my Dad when he taught me to fly in his 1942 Auster J1A1... " son.. you are not finished flying till the plane is locked up in the hangar " and... " those feet are great to get you to the airport but they need to really work ....once we go flying" ... got a great dad and teacher... Thanks for your feedback and help.
  18. Check out my youtube channel...... ozparkpilot ! You will see `em all...... starting with this
  19. Thanks Alf ! Im very excited as this is our first child. I hope he is as plane crazy as I am ! He sure will have alot of toys to play with. Yes, I think it looks a good buy, but I am yet to see it in the flesh. As I mentioned, I will have a Lame go over it and get his/her opinion before emptying my savings account ! That`s for sure. 100 hours a year is doing very well ! I think I would be flying every other weekend. We are building a Hangar home at the moment so I be able to fly at when ever Im up there. No control tower... no traffic... Just pre flight and go fly ! I also have ordered a second single seat plane called FlyNano for which Im the Australian dealer for... That will be for the lake use only !
  20. No idea why.
  21. Well, After spending my last 3 hours on youtube watching some pretty skilled pilots fly what is a very well done aircraft im sold. Its great to get your direct feedback.. What was the build like ? all i plan on doing is adding a transponder and plum in an Ipad and that it... Oh and finish my RAA ticket.. must not forget about THAT :-)
  22. Metalman, thanks I might well do that... Did you buy your kit from the importer Alpine Aircraft ? Dazza, I agree with you mate, its just like often we can debate all day about what one considers good value vs another. I have no intention of going GA so I'm restricted to RAA aircraft but for the type of low n slow flying I like, I don't consider it a restriction at all.
  23. Ok thanks guys for the comments.
  24. Disagree - The some of all parts adds up to more than them put together.... If its a good build, its a good buy. Aircraft sales are dead at the moment, trust me I know the market as 95% of the aircraft importers are my customers. Don`t try and compare an old Supercub or Citabria. Apples for oranges...
  25. Yeah, It was GA and now its RAA... Actually not sure why he did this but he did and it suits me just fine as RAA is all I want to fly at this stage.. maybe later I do more but I doubt it as I have a heap of GA right seat hours and I MUCH prefer RAA aircraft...I thinks it a fair buy for 85k.. Lets see. Thanks again guys for yours help. Now Im off to prenatal classes ! This " baby " has to wait a few weeks as I have a much more important baby on the way... my little co pilot !
