  7. If this was a car accident it probably wouldn't have got a mention
  8. Saw the crash site on the ABC, damn lucky to find it. No fire just bits and pieces at the base of mature tree's. as I said earlier this was a local flight, crash Site was 14 nm from point of origin YCAB, not an XC just should have been an enjoyable comitment to aviation. Regards Mike
  9. Very sad indeed, condolences to Family and Friends. The site is about 14nm from YCAB. She had just gone for short fly around our very picturesque area.
  10. Courier mail but no status on pilot Missing ultralight plane found north of Brisbane From: The Courier-Mail February 04, 2013 8:28AM SEARCHERS have found an ultralight plane which vanished from radar just 70km north of Brisbane yesterday. Police have confirmed the Skyfox Gazelle has been found in bushland at Glass House Mountains. The missing Skyfox gazelle has been located just north of Beerburrum on Woodford Road at Glasshouse Mountains. Vegetation in the area was extremely dense, and explains why the aircraft was not found soone,r Caboolture Aero Club president John Dawson said. He said the thoughts of the Caboolture Aero Club members were with the pilot and her family. "Didn't know the lady, I know she was a part owner in aircraft which was a Skyfox Gazelle built in Caloundra," he said. "I spoke to people yesterday who said she was most competent at flying; the lady was in a syndicate ownership and the plane was operated by the flying school."

  19. Remember when you turn on a GPS Epirb it has a cold startup and could take a couple of minutes to get a fix. Also it would need a good look at the sky to get as quick a fix as possible. The benifit of the Spot is that it is on while traveling and already knows where you are and will send an immediate fix at the push of the button. Does the Spot product satisfy requirements to carry PLB/EPIRB ?
  20. A sad conclusion, a big thanks to SAR. Condolences to families and friends
  21. I asked a question of a friend Q. I have in the past recd a proximity warning just sth of gympie I had a transponder. Do you need a transponder to be seen. Down to what alt over tiger country NW glasshouse - gympie. Does cloud showers affect accuracy A. Yes to the transponder generally but we do have primary out to 60nm they would have to have been high for that though. WX does not affect transponders. Gympie is 68nm from YBBN
  22. Hi Ian, is there/can you put a refresh button at the bottom of page on mobile 1.0.6
  23. Hi Tomo, If she went out to sea you'd think Maroochy or Brisbane would have tracked her. She would have been a blip on the radar even if not fitted with a transponder. Having said that I believe our Hi-tech systems don't like bad weather either.
  24. Sadly in this case, no news is not good news. Thoughts and prayers for the pilot and passengers.
  25. What state/area do you live
