  8. I was browsing throught Jet Photos and found 2 pictures. The 1st Picture is of the 2nd Qantas A380 on finals for Sydney International Airport. The main landing gear is angled forwards. The 2nd picture is of a Qantas Boeing 747-400 . The landing gear is angles backwards. Now I know they are completly different Aircraft with different manufacturers and designs but why would the A380's landing gear be angled forward? On a hard landing wouldn't there be a risk of the landing gear tipping forward and actually breaking? 9. Well all the Best and I can't wait for you to tell us some stories.
  10. G'Day folks. It has come to that time again in the year where we all start to wind down and Relax. so I thought I would start a topic and ask everyone what they are doing for the Christmas/New Year Break. I'll kick it off and start at Christmas Eve. I will travel from Melbourne to Merino (South Western Victoria). My Dad plays Santa for the local Lions Club Christmas Party every Christmas Eve. After that I will probably just go to the local Pub and sink a few Quiet Ones and catch up with the locals. On Christmas Day Mum is having a lunch at the Hospital she works at so Dad and I will probably head there for lunch. For tea Mum is cooking up a feast at Home. On Boxing Day I will be coming back to Melbourne and then going to Avalon Speedway. On the 27th I am driving up to Murray Bridge Speedway (1 hour south of Adelaide) and will be helping out with Rnd 1 of the Oval Express Formula 500 Series. On the 28th I will be driving down to Mt Gambier Speedway and do the same as the night before. I get a night off on the 29th. Then on the 30th I will again be helping out with the Formula 500's at Hamilton's Western Speedway. Hamilto is just 30 minutes North East of Merino. Another night off on New Years Eve and then back into the Speedway at Premier Speedway, Warrnambool. Then on the 3rd and 4th of Janurary the final Rnd of the Oval Express Forumla 500 Series will take place at Laang Speedway. On the 5th it's back home to Melbourne and then back to work on the 6th. To all have a very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.
  11. Congrats mate. Was it something you have been wanting to do for a while or was it something you just thought you would give it a go?
  12. Hey all. I brought a DVD a while back and just pulled it out of my shelf along with all of the cobwebs. I thought I would let you know about it. It's about an United Airlines 777-200 and follows it from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport to Londons Heathrow International Airport. It starts off with the Captain welcoming you from the Airlines Dispatch Centre at O'Hare Airport. He then introduces the co pilots. He then go through plotting the flight path with the other pilots. Then we meet the purcer. Then the pre flight check lists and briefings are done. Then it's Take Off and climb. The Captain then shows you around the cockpit. Then its a little bit on cross checking the flight plan. Then the pre landing checklists and briefings are done. Landing occurs and then we taxi to the Gate where shut down occurs. Then there is a short bit where it shows United Airlines Boeing 777's landing at differnt airports around the world. Then it's onto the return leg of the journey. The Co Pilot is in charge of the landing and take off. He briefs the Captain and performs the check list. Then it is push back and take off. There really isn't much about the flight as it is all done on the 1st leg. Then it's the Pre Landing check list and briefing. The co pilot then lands the aircraft. The Captain thanks everyone for joining them and says good bye. I was looking on the Internet for Aviation DVD's and Books and found a really good site from Geelong. It is called Vibex Books- http://www.vibexbooks.com.au/Main.asp?_=Home Another good site is Just Planes.com- http://www.justplanes.com/
  13. Pretty cool.
  14. Some good photos there. I try to get out to Melbourne International as often as I could. The next time you are going to go out PM me and we might be able to meet up. I try to get out there when the winds are coming in from the North. The best location to spot from is the RWY 34 Spotting Area. A list of Spotting Locations can be found at http://www.rwy34.com/spotting/withcar.php#I
  15. Well when do we see the photos? I was out there a couple of weeks ago but just finding the time to edit them and post them is a problem. I have been as busy as a 1 armed Bricklayer in Baghdad

  23. With all of the talk of pulling planes out of the skies I find it very hard to believe that Qantas would order the Boeing 777. If they were serious about ordering it then they would have ordered it when they placed the order for the Dreamliners.
  24. Welcome aboard Turbo.
