    Hey everyone. I just completed my first double shift yesterday (14 Hours) and while on the Tarmac I noticed a very strange visitor to Melbourne. I had never seen it here before and was wanting to know if anyone else had any information about what it was doing here and why. Airline- Southern Sir (Painted on side) Rego- N765SA Aircraft- 747-200 (Looked to have -400 series engines on it) Time- Was taxiing at around 12.45pm and took off at around 12.50-12.55pm from Rwy 27 It was parked at the freight terminal but it had all of the windows and no physical signs of being a cargo plane. Does anyone know where it come from (America I'm Guessing), what it was doing here, any celebrities on it and where it flew to after Melbourne. I haven't see an Classic "JUMBO" in Melbourne since Qantas retired the last of it's Boeing 747-300's so it was great to see the smaller "hump" (windows all the way along it) The wings looked awesome as they drooped full of fuel and there were no winglet's (I'm sick of looking at Winglet's!!!!!) :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: Any info would be much appreciated.

    Welcome Aboard JP!!! I too am an Aerosexual! lol I just started at my dream job 4 weeks ago. I become a Baggage Handler with Virgin Blue at Melbourne Airport. I too enjoy a good day of photographing here at Melbourne. I use a Canon EOS 350D with a 18-55mm Lens and also a 75-300mm Lens. Please feel free to explore this wonderful forum as there is plenty to see and do! Feel free to add to our Photo Gallery. I hope you enjoy what this board has to offer and we are all here because we share the same passion, Aviation!

    It has the new interior too! Very nice and really lifts the image of Virgin Blue!!! She has been doing the Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne runs since coming into service!

    G'Day Footprints and Welcome to our wonderful world! I'm the boards enforcer :LOL: (see name) and welcome everyone along! I just got a dream job in an Airline at Melbourne International Airport working for Virgin Blue as a Baggage Handler. Today is my first day on the Tarmac since my training. I absolutely love it and am hopeing that I can rise through the rank to become a Manager. I also enjoy Aviation Photography and when I'm not Airside, you will find me the other side of the fence with my trusty Camera in hand.     Thanks mate. There were 2 that I was at. The first 1 with the approach shots is at the Aircraft Spotting Area at the Start of Rwy 16. The take off shots where at the viewing area at the other end of the Runway.

    Hello everyone. I was out at Melbourne International Airport today and spotted a new building being built next to the current control tower which got me thinking. With the International Terminal being upgraded and Rwy 09/27 currently being resurfaced, is this a new control tower being built? Uploaded with ImageShack.us

    OK I went on Friday night and had a great night. I really enjoyed the aerial display that was on offer but unfortunate there wasn't any Commercial Aircraft :( I was really hoping to see at least a Boeing or Airbus commercial aircraft but nothing. There where a lot of private jets but not what i was looking for. The B1 Lancer is 1 of the most awesomeness things I have ever seen. The Sound and the afterburner effect at night is truly AWESOME!!!!! What did everyone else think?
