1. Thought it sounded a bit suspect, although nothing would surprise in that part of the world. Here's a more logical report calling it a T-67 Firefly. Did some checking & Jordan still uses T-67's so that would have to be it. http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://en.ammonnews.net/img/big/2013516127RN203.jpeg&imgrefurl=http://en.ammonnews.net/article.aspx?articleno=21027&usg=__tWnOoMbedtn-mutFMGiNQMc09Fo=&h=231&w=350&sz=19&hl=en&start=7&zoom=1&tbnid=hIw-mcnQ4auTbM:&tbnh=79&tbnw=120&ei=s-W-Ue6dAoXQkgXoiIDwCAprev=/search?q=jordanian+airforce+trainer&sa=G&hl=en-AU&gbv=1&tbm=isch&itbs=1&sa=X&ved=0CDoQrQMwBg Cheers, Willie. 2. I'm thinking NASA, oblique etc., that's a different type of movement. As for the original post, looking at the photo above, it took a while for the dots to connect, that the original twin was the civilian version of the FAC Cessna O-2 that came between the Bird Dog and the Bronco. I thought it looked familar, I'm a bit slow sometimes. Cheers, Willie.

4. Peter, I'm assuming by 'different type of movement', you mean variable geometry, but not variable sweep like the F-111, F-14, MiG-23, Su-17 & 24, B-1/Tu-160 etc.. Cheers, Willie.
5. It rings a bell, Peter; it's just not ringing loud enough without resorting to the almighty google. Might need a subtle hint or two. Cheers, Willie.
6. The Royal Air Force Tucano display aircraft has been painted in North African desert colours to represent 72 Squadron's WW2 Spitfires. http://globalaviationresource.com/v2/2013/03/27/2013-raf-tucano-display-roll-out/ http://www.globalaviationresource.com/reports/2013/airshows-uk-2013-raf-tucano-display-scheme-revealed/index.php Cheers, Willie.
7. First time I've seen the new format, Peter. I like it. Cheers, Willie.
8. That's an amazing story, thanks Dexter. Cheers, Willie.
9. Thanks Nerb, it's a sight you never tire of, that's for sure. Cheers, Willie
10. Last year's test flights of the only flying Sturmovik in the world, part of the Flying Heritage Collection at Everett, Washington. It was found submerged in a lake in 1991 and restored using parts from other wrecks. Apparently it's been re-engined with an Allison from a P-38 Lightning. http://www.flyingheritage.com/ This should have been in the video section, I guess. Cheers, Willie.

12. I've stuck with XP until they make a better system (from my point of view, anyway). Haven't been real impressed with the last three, so am still waiting. Once you trim XP down and get rid of all the garbage and eye candy, it's a very functional, stable, and easy system to use. I use a small freeware programme called MW Snap. Once minimised in the bottom toolbar, a right click on the icon opens a menu with a lot of options - fixed size rectangle, any selected area, full screen, window etc. It can then be saved in a choice file types and resolution. It also has some other editing tools I've never used. I think there's others around, but this one is easy. Cheers, Willie.
13. A bit off topic, but it solves a bit of a mystery. I'd always thought this static target ( a screen shot from that 16mm Maverick test clip, Peter) was a Panther, but obvoiusly not after looking at some Panther photos. I've since found out it's a Northrup F-89 Scorpion. Not a Panther at all. Cheers, Willie.
14. Yes, Geoff, it was quite an experience, and something I've wanted to do for a long time. A definite bucket list contender. It's supposedly heading to Melbourne for a couple of years, so if you get a chance to ride in it, I'd highly recommend it. Will try and get up in it again sometime, hopefully for a bit longer next time. It's hard to describe. Everything that you've read and learned about the An-2 over the years suddenly all makes sense the moment it lifts off the ground. It's such a large, stable platform and seems a bit surreal to be in something so big that handles like a 172 Cessna. It just floats. And the 1000hp round engine all adds to it as well. Smoothest feeling aeroplane I've ever been in. Cheers, Willie. I don't know the story behind this small jet; it was loud and looked like a lot of fun.
15. Not a good photo, but maybe one of these, Kaye. Same group of planes, I think. Cheers, Willie.
16. Claims that aviators from far away shut down nuclear missile systems. http://en.rian.ru/military_news/20130501/180942695/Aliens-Messed-with-US-Soviet-Nukes--US-Airmen.html Cheers, Willie.

20. It just gets worse. Cheers, Willie.
21. Sounds a bit like a TE-20 Massey Ferguson. This Chinese home built looks a bit like a smaller version of the Flying Bathtub if you stretch the imagination a little. Cheers, Willie.
22. Another French contender, the Amiot 143. Cheers, Willie.

24. Some interesting figures on United States aircraft numbers lost during the Vietnam War. Originally sourced from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_losses_of_the_Vietnam_War), the figures have been simplified to include aircraft from all four branches of service combined, and operational as well as combat losses. Variants are listed as the one type, eg. F-4 includes RF-4's; C-47 includes AC-47's, C-117's etc.. Fixed wing losses in descending order of numbers: 765 McDonnell F-4 Phantoms 476 Cessna O-1 Bird Dogs 382 Republic F-105 Thunderchiefs 373 Douglas A-4 Skyhawks 260 Douglas A-1 Skyraiders 243 North American F-100 Super Sabres 169 Vought F-8 Crusaders 106 Vought A-7D Corsairs 104 Cessna O-2 Skymasters 80 North American Rockwell OV-10 Broncos 65 Lockheed C-130 Hercules 64 Grumman A-6 Intruders 56 Martin B-57 Canberras 53 Fairchild C-123 Providers 43 Douglas C-47 Skytrains 39 McDonnell RF-101 Voodoos 31 Boeing B-52 Stratofortress 27 North American RA-5 Vigilantes 23 North American T-28 Trojans 22 Douglas A-26 Invaders 22 Cessna A-37 Dragonflys 19 De Havilland Canada C-7 Caribous 14 Convair F-102 Delta Daggers 14 Lockheed F-104 Starfighters 14 Douglas E/RB-66 Destroyers 11 General Dynamics F-111 Aardvarks 9 Northrup F-5 Freedom Fighters 9 Douglas A-3 Skywarriors 8 Beechcraft QU-22 Pave Eagles 6 Fairchild AC-119 Stingers 5 Grumman OV-1 Mohawks 5 Douglas EF-10 Skynights 4 Lockheed P-2 Neptunes 4 Grumman C-1 Traders 4 Grumman S-2 Trackers 4 Grumman HU-16 Albatross 3 Grumman E-1 Tracers 3 Boeing KC-135 Stratotankers 2 Lockheed P-3 Orions 2 Lockheed SR-71A Blackbirds 2 Lockheed EC-121 Batcats 2 Lockheed C-141 Starlifters 2 Grumman E-2 Hawkeyes 1 Lockheed C-5A Galaxy 1 Lockheed U-2C Dragon Lady 1 Grumman C-2 Greyhound 1 Grumman TF-9 Cougar 1 Cessna U-3B Blue Canoe 1 De Havilland Canada U-6A Beaver 1 Helio U-10D Courier 1 Boeing KB-50 Superfortress Small numbers compared to WW2 losses, but still a lot of aircraft when the figures are condensed.
