    Heads ups

Heads up just incase you are looking for a great plane http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/savannah-ebay-last-chance-must-be-sold-by-sunday-26th-may-2013.63311/
  2. Buying maps as maptrax has closed it's door , can we buy single digital maps Thanks Tony
  3. Hi where can I get maps as maptrax is no longer running Thanks
  4. No more Maptrax as they have closed down anyone know how to get digital maps without scanning Thanks guys tony MapTrax has closed for Business - 31/10/2011 We thank you for you patronage over the last 5 years.
  5. Horsefeathers thanks for the SE Qld ALA waypoints do you have NSW? thanks again
  6. Thanks Startibartfast I will give that a try one day when the rain goes away 2012,2013 who knows? VGA Pocket PC's running in "true VGA" mode where the toolbars and dialogs appear too small. If you put a file called hires.dat in the folder where OziExplorer is installed Note the full resolution of the device is still used but dialogs, fonts, symbols etc are doubled in size. When designing new screens in the "Screen Designer" you must use half the resolution of your device as the screens are automatically doubled in size in OziExplorerCE. It is important to ensure that the file doesn’t end up named hires.dat.txt – you need to untick the ‘Hide extensions for known file types’ option in the View tab under Tools ? Folder options in Windows Explorer on your Microsoft Computer Thanks again
  7. OZIexplorer GOTO GO_TO function heads up as you know the list is too small to choose with your finger and you can not use the stylus when flying the answer is two have two of every airstrip which makes it twice as wide ,,, ie you have two lines with the same airport , you can import and add waypoints twice. from coolangatta southport heckfield to coolangatta coolangatta southport southport heckfield heckfield The font size etc can not be changed in the screen designer so this is the only way I know to work around, One disadvantage is it will show less waypoints *goto* touch on the lowest goto and then use the up/down arrow. This works with a 5 inch gps ok Any other ideas out there, Thanks
  8. Ken Is your Ozi/tomtom on the sd>>>>Yes? Back up your sd and use a card reader The menu program is on the sd card >>>Yes? On the main screen do you have a settings icon >>>> click through and there is a good chance you will find a port setting change it to something else tomtom will stop working but you should be able to use ozi. like this picture tools >>settings http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/1/7/4/1/5/1/webimg/400237266_o.jpg Another way2 If you want to know your port and Baud go into tom-tom settings and you will see it. Another way 3 You have a sirf gps module this freeware will tell you everything http://w5.nuinternet.com/s660100031/SirfTech.htm You only need a port splitter if need tom-tom and ozi to run http://www.pocketgear.com/au,en,usd/3014961,product-details,Port-Splitter.html?M2DPId=12231 Just found this front end for others to run multiple programs http://gpsunlock.net/home/ And here is a good idea ask the seller as on there page WINCE 6.0 easily swich to back stage ...
  9. Hi Ken Two things you need to know is the Port and the Baud rate>>>>>> the port is the important one you can either tell ozi your port or get it to search. I do not have my unit here so play with it. One previso is only one device can use lets same port at the same time, Two ways around do not let the first navigation device start, and the second is a program that redirect the port do you have a start screen like this tell us what unit you have , web address etc it will be easier oh and a screen shot Bye
  10. Hi Patrick I have not found any updates, I think anyone with qualifications would be welcomed to share the load and get things moving the open source is such a good idea and with its low drag I can see a few tiny jets installed like the ones on the jet cri cri . Here is another stalled project well the plane it self does not stall that is main feature and a price of $100 for plans , what a great way to get into aviation http://www.spratt103.com/spratt103_english/welcome.htm and Merry Xmas
  11. Good call, I will bypass the intercom and see how I go two different brand headsets same result over modulation via the intercom. Can you explain as the unit came from M Coates.Found this on the net interesting the part 3 and 4 The location of the antenna is of primary importance. When selecting a mounting position, consideration should be given but not limited to the following: (1) Obstruction to signal reception by aircraft or aircraft components. (2) Ignition noise (RF radiation pickup). (3) Vibration. (4) Flutter. (5) Instrument static source interference. Where do recommend is the best place to mount the antenna? Thanks again Tony
  12. Hi Ralph Just the right man to pick, it is a Savannah so same dog and can receive 50 NM away the real problem is circuits/ close to the airstrip group to air/air to ground and the SWR was done by an Communications guy and passed it as perfect as one can be. No interference problems I think it is this one http://www.mobileone.com.au/antennas/airband/airband.html M124-1 515mm Fibreglass 1/4 wave antenna suitable for all air band applications on a 5/16" fitting Also I noticed this next one kinda what I was talking about, as I have very little knowledge on antennas thanks again.
  13. The problem poor coverage at times * ie anytime the antenna does have any metal obstructions Aircraft all Aluminum STOL Antenna been checked with swr* all fittings cable has been replaced Radio Yaesu 220 same problem Microair It transmits and receive well when inline The idea keep the whip antenna on top and use the existing rubber ducky underneath or a bent vhf What is needed , what other alternatives Thanks everyone in advance as this is a safety problem
  14. here is one that should be about 60hp yamaha virago airplane Your bike, how high does it fly? If I tell you that there is a couple planes which are flying around (or at least were) powered by Yamaha V-Twin engines, does it sound like a Virago with wings to you? I don't really know how many of these cases there are, but at least I'm aware of two. And it seems like the Virago has an engine that provides a valid option at the time of building this “flying grafts”. In 1991 Richard Giles built a replica Nieuport-12, WWI plane. And when it was time to put something on its nose, he chose a XV-1100 built in 1986. Giles said that the selection of that engine was based on several factors, which include his experience with motorcycle engines, light weight of this engine, power, cost, adaptability, and most importantly: reliability. Why a Yamaha V-twin? The engine XV-1100 is very light; moreover, it is made out of aluminum, and the original plane engines were not. Another factor was the existence of a built-in transmission gear box, which allows 5 different reduction ratios to accommodate different propeller speeds according to the flight needs; in other words, this guy built a plane with manual transmission. This plane can stops the propeller without the need of shutting off the engine. And the most relevant answer to the “why” is because... he had a Virago 1100 to be the donor. Among the specs that he mentions is the low rpm that this engine operates (3000 to 7000 rpm), which cover perfectly the plane's needs. Another aspect, (which may be natural for most of us) was the built-in electric system and the pressurized oil circulation that exceeded the requirements for a WWI replica, specially the power improvement (80HP). Probably the main drawback was the carburetor . The Mikunis had to be replaced because these carbs operate by vacuum behind the diaphragms, and a plane needs the fuel to be “blown”. Therefore, he replaced the 2 Mikunis for regular 40mm car carburetors. In October 1993 Giles' replica was reviewed and approved for fly by the FAA (USA). The work done by Giles and his friends transformed his Virago 1100 in the first plane powered by a V-Twin engine. In addition, Butch Witlock also equipped his Nieuport-12 with a Virago. And this plane flies with an acrobatic squadron. We need to take in consideration that this planes have a cruiser speed of 75MPH and a maximum speed of 90MPH. These are not planes where the engine is going to endure a lot of “G” forces. These are very light planes with silk-covered wings. Bottom line, if the FAA was able to approve this engine is evidently because this is a very reliable engine... or they (FAA) are as “crazy” as the builders and pilots. Now you know, some say that the Viragos are not really good, some others disagree.... at least you now have a very important fact.... This engine is so reliable that the FAA approved it to be used on an airplane.
