A IL-76 heading to YMML from Perth. Due in in the evening (Thurs). Will have an overnight stay, out in the afternoon - Fri.

Airbus for comfort, but looking from the outside I do like the 747 (+777 !). Welcome James.

The Park Royal (ex Hilton) is the only one at Melbourne that over looks the airport. It sits on the carpark out the front of the main terminal. I haven't stayed there, so I can't tell ya more.

Hey Ben, try www.meltonairservices.com.au for a read. I've had a mate use them and found them good, it's a private field without the extra overheads and it's outside controlled airspace. It's on my list going through them when the magic funds fairy pays a visit.

French Air Force CN-235 is at JHA - Whisky 2, can be seen through the fence on South Centre Rd, as it is at the end down near Jet City, and is facing north so is nice for taking photo of whole right side. came in late arvo, don't no how long it's staying. 52-IH Armee De L'air. . . 107 on front wheel flap.

Hey Ben, thats normal, Tower will hold stuff at points over the terminal, if the choppers are travelling past, or it could be a news chopper filming 'whatever', and there is also a mock emergency op going on today, it's an annual thing.

If you want to see stuff on Whisky Taxiway or look into the hangers, and Military / government stuff that park at the BAE system hanger it's a good place, or see F-ORMA 'hiding' tail first in the JHA hanger when it was here. APAC Drive coming from Melrose Drive towards the terminal, is after the taxi holding area, turn left at lights (where new freeway ramp is being built), left at first roundabout, new Toll corner.

F-ORMA, - MEA: Middle Eastern Airlines, A330-200, at John Holland Aviation. confused plane : French rego, middle eastern airline, with a Lebanese tree on the tail :confused: new spotting place at YMML - There's been a road made off APAC drive where the new Toll building is, it goes behind the taxi holding area, towards the Whisky taxiways.

Hey Ben, I was on the apron when it went through, it had me spining around as i hadn't seen it on the ground, and then I caught it the next time with it's touch and go the second time. Can't help you with the rego, but it was a Hercules C-130.
