    Hey Shags, I live in Thornlands and hire the lightwings out of Coominya.. bit of a trip though, about 1hr 30mins or so. I am yet to go out and check out Heck field. I want to see a Morgan Cougar that has just been hangared.

    I saw that flyvulcan. I was wondering if the video was recorded with some sort of timelapse setup, albeit slight, as even with the perspective and 70 knots, it looked faster than that.

    Welcome Andy, I am Brisbane and have an RPL and Pilot certificate and just recently completed my Cross Country endorsement. I have similar ideas as you on my radar and am just hiring for the time being. What school is training you?

    I think time approx. time to build would be handy as there are quick build kits and there are materials and plan kits.

    I have only flown cessnas, pipers and lightwings and I like them. The only thing I needed to do was use my feet more. On a grass strip I keep the nose off also so that took a little getting used to. I am comfortable in them now and they have plenty of get up and go with the 100 hp Rotax. The bonus I found was 1 instructor who is the CFI. Back in my GA days I had 10 different instructors and only saw the CFI when I did my flight test.     It's currently RAA registered so he can't do 4 up unless he VH registers it.

    Hi 2tonne, I did my Pilot Certificate and Cross Country Endorsement with John Walmsley out at Coominya Flight Training. It is around 1 hour or so from Brisbane. I found John to be a great teacher and very generous with his time. If you cancel, no worries he doesn't then sting you for a fee. I cancelled a few times for unforeseen circumstances and his easy going attitude was fantastic. His contact details are 0413 452 547. He has his own 1km strip and it is a great environment to learn in. He is very generous with his time and will sit and chat over a cup of tea for an hours sometimes.     Hi Squizzyhunter, I converted from GA to RAA out at Coominya Flight Training. I travelled 1:15 minutes from home and I found it to be worth the travel. I usually did a session in the morning and had a break then another mid-morning. The CFI does all instruction and is a very good teacher IMO. The CFI is John Walmsley and can be contacted on 0413 452 547. He operates 3 lightwings which includes a tail dragger. It is on a quiet strip with a few hangers where other private operators rent space. I just completed my Nav endorsement a couple of weeks ago and now hire his planes when I feel like a fly.
