  1. Thanks for the video, brings back fond(or otherwise) memories. Bob.
  2. Hi William, welcome to the forum. I recognised your name, and I sure remember Eric Stokes, I and a number of Naval members(mostly officers) got our LAME through RMIT from 1970 to 1977. Bob.
  3. Found this web site, may be of intrest. www.gipsinavigation.com Bob.
  4. Hi Cficare, All the variables can be manually changed, provided you start with the correct figures it is only out by .002. Have been informed that the next update will allow it to be downloaded, should fit on a mobile phones memory. Bob.
  5. Below is a link to a calculator for True Air Speed. May be of intrest to someone. Bob. Paragon :: True Airspeed Calculator
  6. Congrats, there is nothing better than working on your own aircraft, lots and lots of satisfaction. Bob.
  7. Hi Geoff, thanks for that, just to let you know I am not involved with the organising of this event, I am a participant of the HMAS Melbourne re-union but happy to pass on info of an aviation interest. Bob..
  8. Ahlocks - oh, but funny anyway:laugh:. Bob.
  9. ahlocks - a bit harsh but funny:big_grin:. Bob.
  10. Hi A84, the RAA web site has all that information. Bob.
  11. Hi Check-in, Hobart has two airports in close proximity serviced by the same bus service, it is a little on the slow side on pick up, if you worked in the public service you should be fine with the wait:laugh:. You will need to organise the bus pick up, we did ours through Tourism Tasmania web site(got the phone number to ring when we got there). We were there in April of last year and the bus cost $12 each to constitution dock, the nearest golden arches to the airports is worth a miss, slow service and the food looked second hand. The chocolate factory and raspberry farm east of Devonport is worth a visit as well as the fish and chip shop at the wharf at Ulverstone, it is the best seafood on that coast. If you plan to go to Cradle mountain go via Devonport, better road and shorter too, expect bleak weather up there and rain. Launceston has on Elizabeth Street a food hall that is better than most and the prices are good, that city also has a good zoo, that is doing the research into the Tassie devil cancers, it is worth a visit. Bob.
  12. Hi Pud, I don't know why but I always thought you had a complete and flyable aircraft, must be getting old:faint:. Bob.
  13. Hi Pud, Good on you, nothing like it is there. How is the rest of the aircraft? Bob.
  14. Hi, That is exactly what I did when I left the Fleet Air Arm, purchased a C150, 1976 model and did my training/re-training in that near the end of my re certification I found RAA, should have purchased a RAA registered aircraft and re-lernt to fly in that, would have been cheaper too. Bob.
  15. Holy....S.... Batman, not good what about the rest of the motor any interchange of parts? The aircraft repairs done in the past to me may need checking for not to standard works, an uneasy feeling here. now you may find with a new manifold the mounts from above are located differently too, what about the springs are they good ones(resting length and thickness)? Bob.
  16. Hi, We had a customer with a Rotax 582 with the same problem. He had coated the inside of his fuel tank BUT it is a f/glass tank and he had used a product called KLEM and the company specifically states it is not for f/glass tanks the upshot was a new tank, plus he did not change all the fuel lines to Ethanol resistant ones. Bob.
  17. There will be an open day "Wings & Wheels" at HMAS Albatross Fleet Air Arm Museum 1100Hrs, on Sunday 17/10/2010 to co inside with the HMAS Melbourne reunion. It is hoped to have flying displays too from the Historical Flight. Bob.
  18. Hi donC, I take your point but the motor I saw he fitted a CHT lead to the spark plug and the closest head bolt(old style head) and over two months got an "offset figure for the head conection and just used that as he now knows what the temp differances are between the two. I only have experiance with this one motor so was just going by what he did. Bob.
  19. Hi, What about fitting the CHT sender under a cylinder head bolt near the plug hole? Bob.
  20. Hi Pud, Yes these are common parts, my last lot I think I got from Supercheap auto or one of those, there are two types one with metric thread and one with imperial thread, took a nut with me to make sure. Thay lasted two years for me at around $6 each that was cheap. Bob.
  21. Hi big Pete, know what you are on about here, in the late 1970's we had the same issue and two of us were at the hold point waiting and over the radio from someone unknown came " Kelo Uniform Uniform your time is up please return" he wa turning base he did a full stop and taxi back to the hanger and we both got off like robbers dogs! Bob.
  22. Hi, Have to agree with sharp end here, old military training, even once made a call at a tower controlled country strip" flaps down - wheels down - hook down - short finals". got some odd looks when i landed too. don't know why, they have never seen a C206 with a hook????? Bob.
  23. Upon reaching 65, Bob decided to retire. After having him under foot for a few months, his wife became very agitated with him. She suggested he go and do something to occupy his time, like join a club or get a hobby. Bob obliged and went out for a couple of hours... When he got home his wife asked about his day and he replied, "Oh, I just went down to the park and hung out with the guys. And oh yeah, I joined a parachute club. "What? Are you nuts? You're 65 years old and you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" "Yeah, look I even got a membership card." "You crazy old man, where's your glasses! This is a membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club!" "Oh, great! Now what am I going to do? I signed up for 5 jumps a week!"
  24. Hi Pud, Yes you can BUT take care to relieve stress from welding and check very regularly around the base of the lug for cracks and splits(I check every 20 hours or so). nothing worse than the lug giving way while in flight, you loose the spring too, bugger:sad:. Bob.
  25. Hi all, I too have found the office staff good value and always helpful, even got the bagpipe joke that is the humor section from one of them. Bad manners and that sort of thing should not be tolerated at all. Bob.
