  1. Debating between Part 103 USA FAA Ultralight and Light Sport. Thinking of "commuting" 600 miles from Cincinnati to New York City area (Morris County Airport near Morristown, New Jersey) to visit one set of Grandchildren eight to 10 times a year. Soloed in Hershey-bar winged (1960's) Piper Cherokee in late 1970's as member of an inexpensive flying club that charged $14 per hour including full fuel tanks. Now want to build or share-purchase an affordable plane. James Wiebe's Belite seems impressive from afar as does the ultralight Fokker mono-wing afrom Bob Baslee. Although the choices are many: pusher highwings such as eGull, Randall Fishman's twin-boom ePlane, the Sonex/Waiex product lines, Foxbat/Nynja/Bushcat/X-Air, Rans Courier and S6ES, Zenith/Zenair/Tedesco/Heintz/Skykits/World mishmosh of STOLstuff, as well as TEAM/MiniMax and VolksPlane. And...why would Any Aussie plane use a Rotax 9-series rather than a Jabiru (spelling?) given the facts that Rotax is liquid-cooled, heavier, uses a gearbox, costs more and has a shorter TBO (due to running twice as fast)? What Am I Missing?
  2. What, pray tell, is a Thruster? Put another way, is it enclosed and does it meet the USA FAA's Part 103 Ultralight constraints. Folks in EU, UK and KoalaLand apply the term "ultralight" to anything lighter than a Shorts SkyVan...exaggerating only slightly here.
