  1. If you want to go for a ride in one I would be more than happy to take you. Yes 80 ltrs and mine with the 100hp get 15.7 ltr per hour. That is well over 4 hours with plenty of reserve.
  2. Satisfaction. They test flew her yesterday. I haven't seen her for 2 weeks so tomorrow is the big day. The incident happened a week before ANZAC day so 4 months. It was 6 weeks before I even had time to do an assessment and determine to get someone else to do the job and put it through insurance. Then 2 months to get the parts manufactured and delivered. And now 3 week to do the job. I have been so busy with work that I could not have done the job in the time frame even if I had wanted to and to be honest I didn't want to. I have decided that I am one of those people who just want to fly and I am happy to pay someone else to do the majority of the work for me. Yes I understand my aircraft. Yes I still want to do all my own checks and balances but if there is a problem or something other than basic Maintenance I really do not want to be spending my flying time doing that. So yes I could have done the repairs but not within the time frame it has taken, but I simply did not want to. So tomorrow weather permitting I and off to the field to take her for a fly. A few circuits to start with and if I am happy with that I will head off on a bit of a Nav. Brisbane Valley Airshow is on tomorrow but I will wait and see how I feel after some circuits, airwork and a bit of a Nav before deciding if I want to venture home through there. I have only flown twice since the incident so I will take it easy and see how I feel. The Back Half. The worst damage was to the tops of the two upright legs you see in this photo. The left one is bent at 90 degrees The front half. Nose leg bent, not badly but still bent. Despite the damage and the apparent weakness looking at the wheels, the wheels themselves stood up very well. The axles and axle mounts were changed however. And when the engineer knows what he is doing it goes back together as well. I did take the opportunity to have some other tasks that have been on my to do list for some time completed as well. So instead of possible flying her last weekend they spent a couple of extra days working on things for me. And yesterday she went for the test flight and the a short Jolly after by the engineer and his helper to prove she was a going concern. Tomorrow it is my turn.
  3. Yes but sadly they along with many others could often do with better education.
  4. When loading anything I go by one test. It used to be called the Father test but now with age I have changed it to the Grandfather test. Whenever I load something and before I move I study the load and ask myself 1 simple question. Would I be happy to take this load past my childrens school as my wife is dropping the kids off. (Now it is the Grandchildrens School but I still use my wife in the equation because I do not like my daughter in law so could get a biased opinion) It is a simple yes/no question. If I answer yes then I would take it anywhere. If I answer no then it does not move.
  5. Turbs you copied and pasted my post as I was deleting it. For the record I decided to delete it only because I didn't want to perpetuate the arguments in this thread further. I agree with your comment, but the LRG has been tested in court and has been found to be wanting. There are some things in the LRG that I would never do, there are others there that I did for many years before someone wrote a book to tell me how. At the end of the day ATM it is a guide and cannot be enforced. The problem is the number of people who think it is law and try to enforce it, and I am now talking about actual enforcement officers. Sadly all professions have good and bad operators and no amount of legislation will change that. Education on the other hand has a chance but in some cases that education needs to be taken out of the classroom and into the field.
  6. You would do well to look at the Hanuman. Very similar flight envelope to a Foxbat and far lower price.
  7. And when you are driving down the road grossing 62.5 tonnes at 100 kph and get overtaken by a car and caravan and see the action for real then you may question the whole concept a bit more.
  8. What I find interesting is that they could be facing up to 15 years jail whereas if they had been found it drugs it could have been the firing squad. It says a lot to me about the value they do/don't place on a human life.
  9. Cool Thank you.
  10. Thank you I was actually going to go and see them later this week. :)
  11. Which Savannah are you planning on looking at. The guys at TAVAS are great and easy to get along with. Drop me a message when you plan to be at Caboolture, I would love to meet up.
  12. Thank you skeptic36. I actually bought some standard grade stuff and it simply does not have the same strength as what is already on the aircraft. I am not even sure if I can get aircraft grade as I can't seem to find any reference to it anywhere, but the stuff I purchased online will simply not do. Mine is still quite serviceable but it is out of date so I need to look for a replacement.
  13. I am trying to source some 10mm Bungee Cord and am not having much luck. Any ideas on where I could get suitable aircraft grade in or around Brisbane please?
  14. No I meant I want to be on the flight in. Lol
  15. I know that photos can be deceptive but I have to say I would have wanted to be on the ground long before I got to the third photo in that group.
  16. Can I come. :)
  17. I will happily swap your evil dangerous low wing for my safe rock solid high wing if you like. Straight swap no money to change hands. What say you??
  18. Bruce When I did the maths 18 months ago i was going to lose 2 kgs by dropping out the J and putting in a D motor..
  19. Yes the bigger engine. 6 Cyl watercooled 120hp. And it bolts straight onto a Jabiru Mount. Oh and did I mention dual ECU's and fuel injection.
  20. I did think about a j200 kit fitted with one Mark. Could be an awesome machine
  21. We got one single page login and it only arrived yesterday. We have have little to no home internet since moving here 4 weeks ago. I spent 2 hours on the phone to optus tech support tonight.
  22. Nope never got a manual option.
  23. Maybe if we had NBN it would have worked better LOL. I am 8 klms from the centre of Brisbane and am relying on Wireless Home Broadband with a download speed of less 3 bps, because we cannot get ADSL2 or NBN. What a frigging joke. Just wait till the pricks send out the fine.
  24. Well the parts are sitting in the back of the Ute and are heading up the hangar tomorrow. I have been up there several times. We took the opportunity to do a full Carby rebuild and I have run the engine up to full operating temperature for about 5 mins every two weeks. Tomorrow when I drop the parts off, I will run her up again then drain all the fuel to be replaced with fresh fuel when she flys again. Hopefully the repair mans estimate is not to far out and we will be flying in a couple of weeks.
  25. I heard that they were fair game if they were running backwards as well.
