  1. Now if the could just fit real wings to a goldwing. Heated seats, heated handgrips, heated air ducted to your feet, stereo, 6 stacker cd and airbag. Oh what a Drifter that could be. Could be a little on the heavy side.
  2. I am looking forward to the next few weeks. CRA have today taken delivery of the first A32 Vixxen aircraft sold in Australia. It will be online soon alongside the C140 taildragger that arrived last week. So some new aircraft that will provide an opportunity to do some totaly different type of flying. Some longer trips in the Vixxen. And the taildragger, can't wait.
  3. I am heading the Mornington this week for a reunion. Would there be anywhere at Tyabb to hire an RAA type aircraft?
  4. Mark why would you land with a 90deg crosswind at Watts, especially with a possible fuel problem? They have a cross strip at 90deg to the primary. I can understand doing it for practice but not with a suspect fuel issue. Yep I have certainly gotten into the habit of going over there for some cross wind practice.
  5. You should try transporting them to the Colonies Phil. It seemed to work OK last time you tried it.
  6. I use an Ipad Air in a kneeboard. I am quite comfortable with it. I do still like to use maps though. More challenging.

  8. Been there done that!
  9. No that one hasn't disappeared.
  10. Yes very much so. In theory it is quite a simple fit. The kit has an option for Jabiru, Rotax 582 or Rotax 912. In my case it had the Jab motor but it came with the factory kit to change it over. Like I said in theory it is quite simple. In practice, not so much. I could do the next one in 1/4 of the time and probably 1/3 of the cost and 1/10 of the stress. If you are buying a kit just get the kit for the Rotax 912 and no problem. (In theory) lol.
  11. You seem to have nailed that upwind leg pretty well. It like you were following a line on the ground. LOL
  12. Cool thank you. So what is the maximum on a wire braced?
  13. Is there a new maximum pilot weight please?
  14. It is the 100hp version.
  15. We are brought together by a common interest. Flying. That does not mean that we can't have other common interests. There are many here who ride for example. I find it really simple. if a topic does not interest me I don't read it. Its a bit like hangar talk I guess we go to the hangar because of flying, however once we are there we talk about everything and anything of interest. I think of this place as my virtual hangar for when I can't get to the real one and as such am happy to discuss anything until the owner of the site tells me not to.
  16. So I am back home. I left Monday evening, and loaded out of a property near Casino on Tuesday morning. It was pouring rain when I loaded and the hay had been wet for some time. I was actually quite ill on Tuesday evening so didn't get far Tuesday at all. As it continued to rain right through to Wednesday a lot of mud and crap seemed to be coming out of the hay. Now as I know bugger all about hay I rang the organiser and asked his opinion. Obviously there was not much point taking crap hay all the way to Ilfracombe. Brendon decided that he would like to see the hay so instead of meeting the convoy at Bourke as previously planned, I got the old A into G and set off for Darlington Point in the Riverina arriving at 9pm. As I suspected, the hay was not great quality but it was decided by people who know hay better than me that it was still usable so rather than burn it and reload it would go. The convoy set off Thursday morning and arrived at Ilfracombe about 7pm on Friday night. Without going into all the details of the trip, it was for me an extremely humbling experience. Every town we went through had the streets lined with people with signs and waving and cheering. And I really do mean every town right from Darlington Point to Ilfracombe. At times miles from any town there would be a ute on the side of the road with a banner thanking us and a pile of kids waving. It was an awesome feeling to drive past those families and wave back. I would like to thank some people but it would not be possible to cover them all, but a guy named Brendon Farell, just a farmer who saw a need and acted on it. He and his wife put the whole thing together. Yes they had help but without Brendon this would never have happened. This is the sort of person who should be Australian of the year not some overpaid spoiled bloody football player. The thing is he probably wouldn't accept it. This was his 10th run but the first to QLD. The receival/distribution point This shows where they got rain over Christmas and where they didnt. This was about 150 klms south of Ilfracombe. Looking Back Just a couple of the signs A few stats 119 trucks 165 trailers 5000 bales/rolls of hay Value of hay over $1.9million Distance travelled 1850 klms About 220,000 truck kilometres Approx 3500 tyres At normal running we spread out just over 50 kilometres When we closed up to enter the larger towns we still took up 15 kilometers It took about an hour for us to park all the trucks from arrival of the first truck at a point to the last one and about the same to get them all moving again 260 Farmers were supplied with varying amounts of hay dependent upon stock and severity of drought The relief area covered a radius of approx 300 kilometers from Ilfracombe Each Farmer also received a Hamper, IGA voucher, watermelons and dog food provided by Drought Angels in Chinchilla The gratefulness shown by the farmers as they collected their hay was obvious Crowd funding and Caltex provided assistance to the truck drivers for fuel. Each driver received fuel vouchers of $1500.00 and I can tell you that I saw many of those handed straight over to farmers as well. After all the drivers neither asked for nor expected to receive them. Personally I was away 6 Days of which I spent almost one day in bed to crook to drive. I did 4150 klms I used 2100 litres of fuel. I met some wonderful amazing people. I will do it again in a heartbeat.
  17. And a Gazelle doing circuits of the convoy and the showgrounds as we came into Ilfracombe today.
  18. We arre urrently trending number 1 on facebook and have been since yesterday. The pages appartently has had 4,000,000 hits in the US and GB. It is also being considered for several records by Guiness. Today we are seeing how powerful social media can be when used correctly.
  19. Ok guys was it one of your who flew the Savanah over the convoy today just out of Blackall. If it was I was 3rd truck in the line and would love some photos please.
  20. Countersteering involves basic gyroscopic theory. Those wheels and tyres are simply gyroscopes.
  21. Anyway truck is ready and fueled. Ute is loaded with Tucker and water. I had to go buy 30 straps and buckles because someone got into my trailer over New Years Break and decided that he needed my Straps more than I did. Pisses me off I have had most of them for over 10 years and they normally sit in the shed. Only moved them to the trailer on Thursday to save doing it tonight. Anyway glad I went and checked things today or I would have looked silly trying to load 80 rolls of Hay. Just having Dinner with the boss then heading out to go join the run. Bit silly really I have driven millions of kilometres but this trip I feels like I am going on holiday. They are expecting between 120 and 135 trucks and up to 200 trailers. Convoy should be the biggest ever seen in Australia and will stretch over 50 kilometres. Pity they don't run it through Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane to give the pollies a wake up call.
  22. Biting my tongue. I agree with your post Skeptic36 except I would have spelt the 4th word as ID10T
  23. I have the B/Double set up and ready to go. Leaving tonight for Southern NSW to load up.
  24. Actually they are on a world goodwill tour. Which actually means that they are travelling around the world saying look we have very modern equipment Do Not Piss Us Off!!!!!!
  25. A couple of Chinese Warships as they came into Moreton Bay this morning. They were very impressive and cruising extremely fast compared to the vessels that we normally see out there. A
