Your figures are flawed, Jab recommend using Avgas whereas Rotax recommend Mogas so you really need to use those costs. I have no real opinion about the rest of it other than I am comfortable with my decision to remove the Jab motor from my plane and fit a Rotax.

What sort of rate are they charging for Hangars down there? It is closer to home for me, but i seem to have made a lot of friends up at Caboolture now and would need to consider if I am willing to leave.

I do not watch TV normally. A mate texted me and told me to turn it on as he thought the plane that they kept showing was like mine. I have just now emailed him a Bill for the 25 mins of my life that I wasted whilst that show was on. If he pays up without argument I shall use the money for fuel and take him for a fly. If he enjoyed that, he needs to get out more.

A terrible idea. Bathurst during race week. No accommodation and terrible weather for camping. And the airfield running amok with the roulettes, TV Helicopters the myriad of choppers used for the racecam system. Can you imagine trying to close the airfieldfor a couple of hours for an airshow with the money those guys a paying for choppers trying to keep up with racecars. Not to mention the thought of a couple of hundred flyin aircraft. Not an option imho.

At the end of the day the board were probably on a hiding to nothing. It really doesn't matter which way they jumped they would have copped criticism from somewhere. In my case when it comes to magazines I prefer a paper copy so wont bother with the electronic one. I would have accepted an increase in fees because to be honest I feel that I am getting fairly good value for my money. Will I subscribe? Probably not for the simple reasons that 1, I can't be bothered and 2 I don't like the concept of someone gaining twice from my expenses. ie. the publisher charges the RAA to print the mag and then sells the advertising themselves. That is double dipping in anyones book. I would have accepted it if the board came to me and said we need to put fees up because of the following reasons blah-blah-blah. I might have cried and carried on but I would have accepted it.

I have spoken to someone who was also very skeptical so he went down and flew it. Both were very impressed and quite happily confirmed the claims of top end speed and stall speed. The changes listed from the A22LS add up to quite a long list and many of these things on their own might make very little difference but in combination, all the little things can add up. It appears that yes there are some big changes in shape and aerodynamics but there are also a lot of little things that all help. The one thing that does bother me is the very small gap between Max cruise and Vne. Not much room for error there especially if used in a training environment. I agree and this really could be a game changer for Jabiru, I would love to see a head to head comparison between this and the J230. Cost wise there is not much in it and this is a far lighter aircraft with better stall and similar cruise. Oh and that Rotax up front.

Just curious, so are you guys suggesting that the local distributor would fit an inaccurate gauge into a VH registered aircraft just to trick potential purchasers. Being VH registered does the aircraft not only need to have the ASI calibrated but the complete system needs to be calibrated and tested.

Who to ask? I would suggest emailing your local Board Member or the CEO as a starting point. It will make it easier to communicate if they know you are interested of course. One very good point you raised though is the one about the training coordinator.

Thanks for all the leads I will look at them. I like the idea of patching through to the TV but first I would need to work out how to turn the TV on. It does sound like a good idea though.

Hi all. Is there a program that shows aviation maps on a PC desktop. I use Ozrunways to plan currently but would like to look at it on a larger scale. Especially when trying to plan longer journeys, like Brisbane to Mildura say. i find it a bit limiting on the ipad to get a good overall view.

Yes read his history and comments to the court and others related to the court. Probably deserved what he got. As owners and employers we have a responsibility to our drivers and the general public to provide a safe environment. We all know that mechanical things can break down but it is how we rectify the issues that matter. To say after the event that (I wouldn't have hit that post had I been there) is not really the way to manage a critical mechanical failure.

I live 25 nM from Caboolture and 20nM from Heck Field and only 10 from Archerfield. Short of getting an RPL Archerfield is out but Heck has always looked interesting to me location wise. It takes about half the time to get to Heck than Caboolture. But I have made so many friends at Caboolture not sure I want to move now. But a foot in each camp could be interesting especially if one foot is in a drifter.

A quarter share at 2 and a 1/2 is sounding alright. Was at Heck Field on Saturday, it seems like a nice club/airfield. There could be a hangar space gooing once the Demons finish cleaning it out.
