  1. You wouldn't be hearing that from the ABC would you. Our local ABC appear to be getting paid off by the Taxi council on this issue. I have a friend who owns taxi licences, he any I have some great arguments on this issue. The one thing he doesn't like is actual facts being quoted as it waters down the fear mongering campaign put out by there council.
  2. Now there is a term that I hate with a passion. It appears that the term was dreamed up by people to belittle good competitive businesses that dare to think outside the square. I think that smart innovative businesses better describes most of these internet based companies. As for UBER drivers my son in Law after taking some good advice set himself up properly and did quite well as an Uber Driver thank you very much.
  3. Or maybe they just quietly move on and we lose the input of some very valuable members of our forum. Some of the comments on this thread may be ok on some forums but are a bit over the top here. Just my opinion mind you.
  4. Uber Or talk to some friendly locals on here. There are plenty of them.
  5. Heck Field would be the closet one to Beenleigh.
  6. You know what I love about this post. You provide a link and then tell us where it will take us. That gives us the opportunity to decide if we want to use up our data or not. I hate seeing links with no information about what they are. Well done that man.
  7. My guess and it is just a guess, is it could have something to do with CASA restricting access to the flight line or the airshow aircraft.
  8. Thank you Nick. Nothing quite as good as hearing real world experiences. :)
  9. Well I have been grounded for 6 weeks. A minor medical issue which forced me to ground myself not only from flying but from working as well. My Grandson has been visiting for 2 weeks and he looks forward to flying with Pop when he comes to visit (he only comes up once or twice a year) but t wasn't to be this time. My doctor gave me the all clear 3 weeks ago but I still didn't drive for a further week and a certainly wasn't willing to take a pax up. Today being WUFI Day I decided to fly but only after my mate Jim a Senior RAAus instructor was available to come up with me. It was great to get back in the air and I spent a wonderful 1.5 hours poking holes in the sky. It is a privilege to be able to participate in this sport, and we should never take any of these privileges for granted.
  10. I made that offer to them 2 years ago.
  11. Farri that is the site you have to post your WUFI photos on to log your flight and get your certificate.
  12. The weight issue was one of my biggest problems when learning. I found many RAA schools have blinkers on when it comes to weight. One school took me for a TIF and after I did a bit of homework I calculated after guessing the pilots weight that we took of about 80-100kgs over mtow. Obviously they failed my safety standards test. When I started to learn I was 130 kgs. It is possible with the correct aircraft, instructor and fuel load. I found that once I started there was plenty of incentive to lose weight and keep going. You do need to work out a series of questions to ask any potential flying school and you can only do that by visiting lots of them. A Foxbat with and empty weight of 300kgs, a 130 kg student an 80 kg instructor actually still allows for full fuel tanks.
  13. My quote above about choosing where to do the training referred to the ability and skill set of possible instructors due to the high incidence of instructors/experienced people being involved in accidents, not as to where to physically go to do
  14. So after starting this thread and obviously following it fairly closely I have come up with the following conclusions. 1. I should do spin training and if I am not comfortable doing that then maybe I shouldn't be flying. 2. Doing spin training could quite possibly involve a much higher risk of accident or injury. (I reach conclusion because many of the incidents that I have read about in this thread and other places have been the result of experienced people and instructors getting it wrong during spin training.) 3. There are almost as many ideas on how to do spin training and where and when as there are posters on this forum. It all seems very confusing. Choosing somewhere to do the training also appears fraught with danger because of number 3 above.
  15. The second video gets me. A highly experienced pilot in a highly modified aircraft. But when he gets it wrong he sets up a go fund me page so everyone else can pay to fix his stuff up. I should try that. LOL
  16. There was a separate website that you had to go to to register for your certificate last year. My Granson and I have got both our certificates. This year he flys out of Brisbane to go home early Saturday morning so if he wants one this year we will have to try for a dawn flight.
  17. Absolutely. I agree with the Country upbringing and dirt experience. Both invaluable in my opinion. In addition I had a Father who made me reverse over my own wheel tracks for over a mile on a wet muddy road with the instruction not to let him see a second set of tracks. And the day I went for my licence test he made me do a hill start on a dirt track out of a creek bed, but before that I had to get out and put his cigarettes under the rear tyre. His comment that day was if you crush my smoke you are not using my car for your test.
  18. Or maybe you could just knock it into neutral?
  19. A factory build is no guarantee of safety.
  20. There is nothing hard about doing the Nav Endo and it opens up so many opportunities. And lets face it, it can be fun learning.
  21. That will get rid of approx 16% of your body weight. Two legs would be better at approx 33%
  22. The point of my post was simply to ask if you had a reference as what you were saying was different to what I had been able to find and what I had been told. If my understanding was wrong I would have liked a reference to show that, but if my understanding was correct then I would not like to se a post that stated something that was wrong go unchallenged. Some people may see it without knowing the rules and be led in the wrong direction. My understanding of the rules was exactly as Kasper posted below.
  23. So I will take that as a No. It seems strange that a huge number of 19 reg aircraft can be advertised and sold using the club magazine and then have the registrations transferred by RAA as 19 reg aircraft if it is not legal to sell a 19 reg. Further to that when taking advice from your reference on purchasing a 19 reg aircraft, they gave me solid advice on steps and procedures to follow. Following on from your comment above "Not for resale after completion as a 19" there must be a hell of a lot of illegal aircraft flying around.
