    Much prefer my 2011 650 Kawka Versys. It doesn't breakdown, starts first time with a push of a button and doesn't deafen me. lol The plan for my long service (in a few years) is to buy a BSA or Enfield in India and ride it to Moscow or London. :) If my Kidneys make it - I will be impressed.

    Guys (and the awesome women).. What would you classify as an 'efficient' Engine to thrust output ratio with a water cooled motor? say 1000cc equals 100kg of thrust at 70% of MaxRpm.

    Come on Boys.. A Pilot should always be prepared! Gatorade bottle.. Nice big neck with a resealable cap. Powerade bottles are a little sharp around the edges. lol

    LiFePO4 is really good at going boom! Lithum is one of the most reactive metals so personally I would stay away from anything containing it. Apple recalled a heap of iPods because of a similar type of battery that liked to get a little warm in the pocket.

    Just blew the photo up and no real help.. 'looks' like numerical rego - size about right. 3 POB, MTOW?? Rescue costs? Insurance? Punative liabilty? This could be very ugly.

    mmm.. Motorcycle as my main form of transport to work in Melbourne. 69k ride at 2-3am in the morning - Saturday mornings are the worst with all the drunk drivers and the dumba&^% around on the Monash Freeway. Add some fog and 2 degrees across the western port swamps and it becomes an really enjoyable experiance. Wet weather gear still leaks no matter what you do.

    It could start to raise a few questions if you used the drive system with a lifting body type design as it would induce a large airflow over the body if installed as a pusher. Recycled exhaust gases? The Spitfire gained 20 knots from the below wing mounted radiator heat exchange. It might be interesting to run an experiment with an old turbo being driven by a lawn mower motor (with some gearing) to see what type of trust outputs are generated. It would basically be a single stage turbine with an induced extremely high bypass rate.

    Been fighting them for the past two years to transfer a five figure amount to another superfund. Same sort of stupid requests about six weeks apart. Suspect their company policy is to delay at all costs. Pyramid scam behavoiur : Put your money in but don't try and take it out.

    Yet another Argument for at least a mechancial flow meter.. (40-100grams for a electronic). I wonder where he was when he became aware of the fuel situation and His Bingo point from the last fuel stop. Long way between drinks (and Oil) out there.

    Barkly homestead (fuel and the robbery that goes with it!).. Avon Downs Police station.. (fuel can be arranged - have a chat to the boys!), Austral Downs (direct line Barkly homestead, Mt Isa) Phone call - but don't even think about in Mustering season. Numerous 'suitable' prepared paddock landing sites (read roads). Most Bores will have a strip of some 'type' next to them! Bores are really handy as the dam is a great indicator of wind direction. DONT trust windmill tail direction. All of them are decommisioned and I have seen several that are seized in place until the next wind storm. Remember a Cow can walk 8 miles a day so the bores along the old stock routes are a pretty good indicator of distance. Several stations will sell AVGAS with prior arrangement. Most station managers have exposure to Rag and Tube mustering so are fairly accomadating. AAco used to - but it was stopped around 2 years ago.. Not even the mail plane is allowed fuel anymore! Remember to make a donation to the social club.. Beer or $$ for a slab.

    The weather across the Barkly and this time of year can be best discribed as Windy with a chance of unforecasted long term gusts. September last year.. Tennant creek to Rockhampton Downs, approx 87 nm - 1.5 hrs ourbound and 38mins inbound. August 2009 - Mt Isa to Tennant. 3.15 hours outbound and 5.6 hours inbound. July 2009 - Tennant creek to Mount Isa.. 6 hours 25mins outbound.

    Still plugging away at it slowly.. Tried a couple of differant android pads but its looking like I may use a newer (slightly more expensive) tablet. PM me your email address and I will send a copy of the data files across to you. Windoz version is still the best. Netbooks are perfect!

    Currently a Storeman (lots of yummy dead fish!) previously a 'very remote' Telemetry installer / devoloper. 400hrs in J160's / J170. Licenced for anything with wheels and a motor (bike ---> Road train) on the road and enjoy a good blast on the bike when not hanging around the airstrip which hopefully will be more often now the weathers better.

    Find a very light weight instructor. I weigh 125kg and my instructor would have been less than 60kg. The 170 was still able to take around 95l of avgas without breaking the limits. A j160 will cause a few problems as the max takeoff weight is 56kg less. Once you go solo things will change..

    And only one seat! Five bodies bouncing around loose in the back and 'only' two serious injuries.. Pack them in tight and the freight can't move.

    Broome is a perfect example that works really well. When first contacted at 30 nm, they will provide all current aircraft and also provide some local knowledge for the 'suggested' approach for the unfamilar. The last time I was there I notified him that the GPS had failed so I was working my navs the old fashioned way by hand. All approaching aircraft were notifed that my position may be out by a mile or two on my approach as 'my pencil was getting a workout on the map'. Very informal but extermely helpful. The Unicom also 'suggested' the aircraft movements around the airport such as mid airstrip takeoffs for light aircraft (using the nearest taxiway to the GA parking ;) ) so the RPT's can backtrack the 300m to the threshold. Time is money for everyone.

Coffs is Towered Class D, Ballina/Byron Gateway to the north and Port Macquarie to the South all take Airbus/Embraier/QL Dash 8's in about the same qty's per day and are without Tower in Class G. Tamworth on the otherhand from an RPT perspective has a smaller amount of traffic and only QL Dash 8's from memory but is towered as Coffs..." Andy P.S not to say that Tamworth traffic in total is less, the Company I work for, BAE Systems has a facility at Tamworth and has around 20 CT4's that fly 4-5 times a day with RAAF and singapore Airforce Ab initio training sorties, so in terms of raw moevements its not exactly a backwater... I for one would not have anything to do with Tamworth. F18's etc have a interesting approach speed and a departure pattern called vertical and inverted. :)
