  1. Ditto I'll be waiting for the next generation of ipad minis, and a few (many?) more paydays... it's hard enough scraping together the cash to try and finish my navs :(
  2. They obviously make a decent stream of revenue from it so abolishing it will be nearly impossible, nevermind the politics of it :(
  3. I don't think there is anywhere in WA to do an RAAUS tailwheel endo at the moment. I had a look around not too long ago and could only find the one at Bindoon. Can someone please put a Factory Highlander Superstol online so I can hire it Edit: Just a thought, perhaps the Tecnam dealer in Geraldton? Not sure if they have a Tecnam taildragger demonstrator they are wiling to do training on? fair trip up that way though.
  4. Going from ab initio on jabirus, I started flying the tecnam eaglet, it flys beautifully and practically lands itself.
  5. I'm sure this mod will put the savannah kit on the radar now with 600kg mtow, it certainly has for me. I'd like to see someone get it past raaus first though. I would be keen on the XL wide body is it possible to buy the kit in stages, has anyone done it this way?
  6. No doubt there will be questions, airlines putting minimum fuel to save money?
  7. From what I heard a Virgin 737 from Brisbane to Adelaide had to divert due to fog. Landed at Mildura without incident. Hardly an emergency. Although they were low on fuel when they landed. Awkward if they had to divert from there...
  8. Another report, video also showing the aircraft and naming the Pilot.
  9. Good old Human Factors... thanks for posting Ian. I've never smoked in my life but can I suggest looking up this guys book:"Allen Carr. Easyway to stop smoking". No drugs or patches etc I think it's just a mind over matter thing. I've seen both my parents an another family member quit pretty much overnight (After 40 years of smoking), no cravings either. They put down their cigarettes halfway through reading the book and haven't looked back. I've got no affiliation to this guy but what have you got to lose?
  10. my blood ran cold when I saw that :( Condolences to the family: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-06-17/man-dies-in-ultralight-crash-in-mid-west/4757702
  11. Holy thread resurrection Batman! So the lightwing website says the mtow for this aircraft is now 600kg but I can't for the lif of me find the empty weight. Can anyone tell me the useful load?
  12. I tried a similar cable which will record the radio/intercom if that is all you want but it was just too quiet for my liking. I ended up just buying a cheap lapel microphone off eBay and just put it inside my headset . This way it recorded the radio and also engine noise etc. so you record everything you hear.
  13. Regardless, this is one of my favourite videos on the tube......helps if you're a powderfinger tragic
  14. Wow, brilliant story, thanks for posting!
  15. I've flown a sportstar at YBUN that had an iFA prop I don't see it being illegal if a flying school is using one? How was it registered n the first place?? I guess this is part of the current cluster f&(#.....
  16. Did anyone notice the 24 registered jabiru posing as the chase plane in the computer simulation?
  17. I was busy enough with 10 min markers, takes approx 2 min to do clearoffs then I had a few minutes to have a look around before the next cycle. At this stage I suspect 6 min markers will break my brain (even more ... ) ;)
  18. I'm being taught the 10 min markers, which seems simple enough for now. Once I get my head around all of this I might experiment with other methods.
  19. Some great advice I'm sure it will help me and others starting out on cross country endorsements.
  20. Very good question, seems the FAA don't have a problem with it but what would they know right?, casa.....
  21. Cheers for all the suggestions I guess I'll find what works for me. I like the look of djpacros kneeboard. It seems the general drift is learn how to do it "properly" then use your ipad/ GPS etc.... If it fails use the old map and compass/ watch . Anyway I'm really getting a buzz out of this Nav stuff. Blows my mind that what we actually arrive overhead when we said we would. Cool stuff.
  22. True but you can't use the ipads for nav training ;)
