  1. Looks like a lot of fun Maj! Cant wait to get my Piet flying so I can participtae in these events! Scotty
  2. Thanks Andy...that sounds like a great option. Its amazing how bringing things over from the UK or Hong Kong is so much cheaper than the US. No idea why. Thanks mate Scotty
  3. Sounds great Ian. Have a ball, im jealous! I spoke with Roy in the USA yesterday. He has started my Corvair which is a bit exciting! Scotty
  4. Hiya Ian....thanks for that mate. I was blown away by that freight cost. Your right, USPS will be cheaper. My Pietenpol is coming along nicely. Are we going to see you guys at AUSFLY again this year? Scotty
  5. Just a quick update. We have had one pull out so we have one spot left on the course if anyone is keen. Let me know. Scotty
  6. Thanks Mark...will look in to that! Scotty
  7. Hi Maj...your right I could. I have all the manuals here for that model carb. I have rebuilt car and bike carbs but not one of these. Are there any tricks in them? Scotty
  8. I have a MA-3 10-4115-1 Carby off an O-200 that I want rebuilt for my Corvair. There is a very good workshop in the US of A who charges $650USD for a fully certified rebuild which I thought was not too bad. I emailed them today and have been quoted $200USD to post it back to me here! By the time I post it over and with the exchange rate im looking at around $1000AUD. I want to explore my options here first. Who rebuilds these carbs here and what have folk been paying for this service please? Do they rebuild your carb or do you swap your core for a rebuilt one? Scotty
  9. God didnt make me!...apparently my daddy got drunk and it was his birthday.
  10. Lyle...dont lower yourself trying to justify your beliefs. You know what they say...something like "They will bring you down to their level then beat you with experience". Some cant be helped! Scotty
  11. We called in to Watts Bridge a few weeks ago to have a look at Bruce Clarkes Sopwith Pup. It is a most delightful airfield! I could build a hanger and live the rest of my life out nicely there!....hhhmmm.....but I still have to work... Scotty
  12. Something will be flying Nev!
  13. Nev...I feel like I am losing my virginity all over again...lol Scotty
  14. Its booked! Clear the skies around Tamworth this Sunday! Its been around 10 years since I have flown as pilot in command and after about 8 hours of recent flying with Martin at the Tamworth Aero Club to get back up to speed and do a RAA conversion, im flying solo this weekend. Life really gets in the way when you have kids and a mortgage and flying had to take a back seat. It feels good to be back in the hot seat! Scotty
  15. Lol...that started a few months ago! Its nice to sit in it with ones joy stick in hand and make Corvair noises.... I "HAD" to sit in it today to see if I could see over the instrument panels... Scotty
  16. Been working on the instrument panels this weekend. Was going to do the firewall too but ran out of 6.5mm ply! Scotty

  22. Today was The Australian Vintage Aviation Society's "Meet the Fokkers" event. Andrew Carter the founding member of the society put on a fantastic afternoon with a German theme! There was German food and beer, music and re-enactors. Andrew gave a presentation on where they had come from and where they were going before unveiling the 4 Fokker WW1 replica aircraft he had just acquired. Check out www.tavas.com.au and join up to get the latest updates and to support Andrew in bringing the first 25 years of aviation to life. The society is based at Caboolture Airfield in Queensland. Andrew made my kids day when he allowed them and I to try on these fantastic aircraft for size! Thank you Andrew! Scotty
  23. Hi Jim...yes for sure! My next build is looking like a Sopwith Camel. I believe there is one there being built from a kit from the USA? I havent decided if I will go down that road or build one from scratch. I have Jim Kigers drawings here and doing a bit of research. I will be there with my wife Jodi and two kids. We are staying in the Caboolture River Holiday park. Scotty
  24. Hi Jim...we just arrived in Caboolture for the TAVAS event tomorrow! Andrew took me flying in his a year or so ago. I was impressed! Will we see you there tomorrow? Scotty
  25. Thanks guys! Phil yes I could do with the welding skills now! I have control horns and the control column that needs welding but will have to wait till I do the course and buy a TIG machine. When you start the fuselage it suddenly comes together. Especially since we built all the tail first. Im about to mount the tail wheel then look at the main wheels. Scotty
