  1. Still have a chuckle every time I read it. One of those embarrassing moments, such as asking a large female when she is due.....and she isn't.
  2. 'Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor' This would be what Ian refers to as "a once a day tablet to keep my seratonin levels correct" They are a group or class of drugs that are frequently prescribed as antidepressants in the treatment of major depression and anxiety.
  3. Unfortunately SSRIs are seen by many GPs as the solution for all forms of depression, which they are not.
  4. I think this is the video that the odd link refers to:
  5. Fortunately the airline world is more switched onto this than in the past. Many moons ago a freighter made three attempts to land at Heathrow during my tower shift in the early hours, they exhibited what I now know was the symptoms of fatigue reduced performance.
  6. Almost certainly the main culprit if the pain had been causing loss of sleep over a few days. People tend to under rate the serious impact of accumulated fatigue on human performance.
  7. Fairly consistent SW sea breeze, the high buildings of the CBD are situated downwind.
  8. Seems my three answers are also the most popular, what a clever chap I must be :-)
  9. So it's all down to psychology..... they want to be aligned.
  10. With an L/D of 2.5:1 it has to be debatable whether its flying or just limited falling.
  11. I'm assuming that in this F35 era you'll be employing canbus and fly by wire.
  12. Read up the specs recently, quite impressive. Rumoured that they will come with a runway recognition device in the future :-)
  13. Ahhh, so it was a bloke in a pub that told you. :-)
  14. I'd guess that was the Saunders-Roe Princess passenger flying boat you saw. Just a little too late and cancelled by BOAC, unlike the TSR2 which was premature and cancelled by a communistic government. Saunders-Roe Princess - Wikipedia
  15. Is your source sure about that? I don't recall ever seeing it there in the late 60s, and with no connection at all with Duxford, it doesn't make sense that they would have trucked it all the way from the south coast.
  16. Possibly start with this article, assuming nothing has changed since 2014 in this regard: Tutorial: Australian airspace regulations
  17. Umm, I should offer my services to the "West Australian" aviation correspondent.
  18. Try this link Phil, might have something useful: http://www.jasonblair.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Cessna-1971-Super-Skymaster-337-POH.pdf
  19. On the topic of the Mallard, according to the "West Australian" today he was about to make a touch and go. I've no idea of the type's SOP, but it doesn't appear to me from any video I've yet seen that he had any flap selected.
  20. You were right first time, total BS. I've spoken to two AME, they both think the whole CASA AVMED operation is a farce.
  21. See the linked doc, Appendix 8 to calculate. https://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/aviation-communities-and-interests/homebuilt-aircraft-and-homebuilt-aircraft-kits/how-to-build-an-airplane/selection-articles/~/media/68622b08072841d6b76c8cc7c3d51be0.ashx
  22. My understanding is that full service airlines have a limit of 32kg per item. Excess baggage payment is for when carrying more than the total weight allowed, not for overweight items. In most cases anything heavier must go as freight and no checked baggage. I can't imagine Tiger being any more lenient.
  23. I've read in a number of sources that 10 hours for German engines of that era. Apparently the V-1 aka Doodlebug engine life could be shorter than 30 minutes. Good job they only needed 15 minutes to target.
