    It was a test vehicle for a prone pilot position, with the aim to determine if there were any benefits in things like G tolerance.

    Bind Freddy knows that; but when do the media allow facts to mar a sensationalist story. Next they will be blaming the flight sim programmers for showing the startup sequence.

    The media knee-jerk is at full swing, stuff like 'how could somebody steal a plane after 9/11' . It could just as easily have been one of their pilots with a severe depressive event.

    Probably practiced the start up on one of the flight sim programs. We all know that once turning and burning its all a piece of piss :-)

    The report make a comment about the covers melting, it may suggest that they were not therefore tightly sealed prior to that point and some sort of ASI readings were available during take off.

    It depends on your audience and situation. It may be better to notify those around you rather than worry about the police turning up.

    You may be finding some of the developing compatibility issues with XP.

    A totally stupid CASA idea, not their first.

    Mayday is for distress situations and Pan for urgency situations. If you want to clear a circuit because your engine has failed and you want to be able to land anywhere on the airfield, then Mayday is your call. A situation where Pan is more suited would be a fuel shortage, whereby you can carry out a normal approach and landing, but want to avoid the possibility of a go-around due to congestion in the circuit.

    Google images didn't help; best it came up with was a coffee 'portafilter'! The terminology "motor running", suggest to me an ancillary pump or something. Those fasteners and the latching mechanism also suggest to me a static device rather than something in motion like an aircraft.
