The Foxbat has got a tailwheel! - seriously, take a look. It is truly a STOL aircraft though - needs to be with my 230 metre field - 130 metres would be enough though as long as I have a breath of wind on the nose. They just added the nosewheel to level the aeroplane up when it's on the ground:duck for cover:James.

Hi. The Foxbat is a delight. I have one in the UK G-EOID. All the basics of landing any aircraft apply to the Foxbat, get your speeds nailed and trimmed on final, keep your eyes looking way ahead in the roundout, don't be in a hurry, let the aircraft sink onto the wheels in its own time, keep the stick/yolk pressure progressively back to protect the noseleg. Take a look at the go around in my Foxbat on my Youtube channel, superrealitykid . Good luck and if it's been 6 months you should consider taking an instructor for the first hour imho. James.

Gets a bit tiring on the legs when you've downed a few too many tinnies but it helps ward off the old DVT

Thanks BoxFat, What I have is a very soft, sometimes muddy field / meadow and I don't want to rip it too much in case my friendly farmer tells me to go plough elsewhere. I think maybe the bigger 8" tyres to replace my standard tyres may be the way to go. I may have to apply for a modification approval if I go the balloon tyres route. Ps. With regard to your aircraft not flying straight, you will find tucked away near your feet a couple of movable foot pedals. I'm told they can be used in flight and will keep the tail behind the noseleg - Try it, see how you get on. "Go" Forest, "go" ! More a case of "stop" Forest "stop" when I choose downwind landings. The hedge is low and the field runs a bit uphill from the South Western end and there are 30' high trees at the other end so if the wind isn't too strong I prefer to come low over the hedge with the wind up my Jacksy. A bit unfriendly if I have to go around, the trees at the other end jump at you but that thought applies a bit of pressure to nail the numbers on final. Just as well Foxy claws the sky like a homesick angel. Thanks for your comments, James.

Does anyone know of a Foxbat (Valor in the US), which is fitted with the Tundra (balloon) tyres. Thanks for your replies so far, James.

Hi Downunder, thanks for your post, in your attachment they show the 8" tyres on the 6" wheels which are not what I had in mind. Tundra tyres are far bigger but thanks anyway, James.

Hello Phil. You're way up North to me mate. I'm from Lymington in The New Forest (James Pearce - Forest James - get it?). I fly out of a small field with just 220 metres so the Foxbat is the ideal machine for me. It's all a bit wet at the moment and I have just bought a portable pressure washer to keep Foxy's bits clean after my splashdowns. Take a look at my Youtube channel, superrealitykid to see some of the stuff I get up to (all aviation). Yes I am in touch with Ray Everitt of Dragon Aviation who is the Foxbat Importer now. I might well hold you to the Twix and packet of crisps but you'll have to arrange some better weather first, ideally a Southerly on my way up and Northerly return - please. I'll Google Otherton and make a note of your frequency. Failing that, I usually go to the Popham Microlight Fair in April so if you're there, I may see you. What do you fly? Cheers, James.

Anyone have any information about Tundra tyres for a Foxbat? It occurs to me that the configuration could be changed to a rough field capability with the larger 8" tyre for the nose and much larger Tundra tyres for the mains. With the 8" tyres all round the aircraft sits very nose high which is why I think it would sit about level with Tundra tyres. Thanks, Jim.

Hello everyone. I was encouraged to buy a Foxbat after seeing so many satisfied Australians using them as work horses and for pleasure. Mine is G-EOID and a quick Google will show you how pretty my Foxy is in its flip colour scheme. I'll pop onto this forum now and then to see how you do it on the other side of the World.
