  1. i pretty sure they sell normal engines there and customer fits EFI - not really much to do with Jabiru. The issue with jabiru and EFI is the faith that they have the best compromise of cost and complexity. I reckon EFI might solve some pretty core problems if they get the right setup. Someone in RSA working with Autronics and Jab engines I heard
  2. They have taken a lot of weight out of it now
  3. Seen it, reckon that might pop up on a future version They have changed flywheel mounting and method on tension plus belt drive alt has apparantly made big improvement
  4. What the standard vane? Interested in how you made it so you could rotate
  5. Prop balancer tells an interesting tale too, even smooth running ones are way out
  6. No there have been failures going back years and several SB attempting to fix with dowels, bolts, different attachments I still havent heard a solid believable answer from Jabiru on why these bolts break Mostly blamed on others props so now they have to replace bolts every 100hrs. Its not a nice job even if they arent broken. Possible causes are harmonics between prop and flywheel or starting torque as starter has to get to high speeds and it drives off flywheel Replacing bolts does nothing to fix either. Belt drive altenators and CAE mounting could go a long way to fix but Jab wont look at it.
  7. All correct but attempting to micromanage regulations to suit all things is the way of AU government and safety even outside it. Ends up with larger number ignoring it and risking problems rather than try to be fully compliant - because odds are you wont be somehow
  8. "L1s approve the first 3 stages and the L4 rejects it because the L1 has overlooked some aspect of the build? " Then Id say the L4 maybe saved your life. Id have thought the L1 checks are there to see areas not able to be inspected when completed. L1 allowed to keep it cheap and easy as possible. Would expect an authorized L1 would need to understand what they are doing and whats required. Id bet SSAO was behind some/many of these requirements - simply put "unless more thorough inspections stipulated we wont accept it"
  9. Theres an SB on it
  10. Some of the little efis now being certified too. How will the big guys justify prices now?
  11. A real issue with large purchases like this is that essentially no Australian (or acceptable OS party) is interested. Some of these farms have been on the rocks and for sale for many years. Current owners - loosing money daily - often supported by our banks, superfunds etcetc, are pressed to get out. Its a hard policy to legally stop a sale which could stop the pain for current AU owners. To exist in AU agriculture takes a long term position which very few, including politicians, can fathom For residential property, also remember for every property purchase for too much money is a seller doing well from the deal and real odds are that its an Australian.
  12. FT, you havent bought AS high vis work gear for a while Inc ppe it would be closer to $800 and many sites see 20 new employees per week Half a day for inductions, another half to read and sign up to all tra and prestart docs, thats all for a labourer who might stay for a few days or a week. Each item of the safety system itself isnt a big deal but once added it cost heaps in time and lost productivity. Problem is many dont accept this as a real cost of the safer work environment
  13. Yep old race cars did the same, they still make pods for doing this You can get test gauges on a flexible hose- I bought one many years ago and used once - from ryco etc just for this use.
  14. I have a simple low pressure switch with dash light fitted to lower port (below other sender) Light is on before start and at shutdown, should give confidence if the main one plays up. Its reading pressure AFTER gallery unlike the main one which reads before engine, filter and cooler so is going to pick up problems pretty fast. Ive had two Jab supplied ones which just started to show lowering pressure, few more revs all ok, then slowly dropping - not a nice feeling. New sender fixed the issue. Be careful with mechanical types and running oil line into cockpit gauge, not sure its allowed or smart. Getting pressurized hot oil on your legs wouldnt be fun.
  15. Even if you held a poll and acted on results, the decision would be made by a tiny number of members. Very few vote on important things Then there would still be a group , maybe even of non members, here criticising outcomes and results
  16. Maybe, but similar was said about hydraulic lifters. The new setup does look good. Jabiru arent short on ideas to improve the engines, just seems quality, execution and testing let them down
  17. There is a bolt on mech system, precision airmotive in us?
  18. The one I saw was single carb on 4 cyl and double on 6 cyl. It was a long time ago too. Apparantly single bing is running near max airflow on the 3300 anyway The setup pictured is r&d version id say, the next version was being buiilt and looked pretty nice Still stuck with long shared runner each side though but cant get around that without port injection
  19. Jabiru are working on dual carb for 3300, one carb feeds each side. Not sure how serious or successful but it looked ok. As with Rotax and other multi carb setups Id say balancing is necessary and a bit tricky Carbs sit higher and use runner, you can actually see it in the 2210 photos i think with induction pipe for third cylinder facing out front forward of engine
  20. A lot of faith being put in new 2210 with just a few going. Thats sure some big changes.
  21. Yes but being up to date isnt an easy thing if it needs new throughbolts...again. It would include all SB Jabiru have released. I have trouble with blind faith in Jabiru having fixed problems and now theres a penalty for departing from their advice or using others improved parts like CAE. A few curlies too, would pay to read temporary storage requirements which appear to now form part of the limitation lifting. Few catagories still penalised here, what about 19 owners with say a few CAE parts, running Mogas or different oil type. seems they are still limited ? Somehow seems LSA regs now semi linked to all Jab engines.
  22. Assetinsure via insurance broker Or im just making it up, your choice
  23. Yeah and not how good you think rotax is, no idea why Jabiru critics flock to threads to discus the infallible 912 And its the limitations which have caused insurance issues affecting owners
  24. Whats that got to do with insuring airframes? They have stopped insuring Jabiru aircraft not engines........ Doesnt matter what Jabiru do with the engines now , they are still limited even after all this work is done. Even if it is a miracle fix.
  25. Allegedly .....nice. Because at that point they have lost money, its too late. Covering small markets they have to be ahead of the game and that means low risk andmaking informed predictions.
