How long have you got to hear my sorry tale Neil?
I started with Civil Flying school at Jandakot in WA when an hour in a Cherokee 140 cost about $16.00 or half my apprentice's weekly wage. Surprisingly, I ran put of money pretty quickly so my training stopped. Some time later I moved to Victoria and took it up again with Civil at Moorabin. I ran out of money again and stopped. Civil went broke & closed up shop. Not sure if the two occurrences were related or not.
A family emergency saw me suddenly relocated to Canberra where I finished my apprenticeship and started earning better money. I thought to myself - What should I do with this extra money? and I decided to take up flying again - so I did but this time with Ron Dennis at the Airport Flying School. But I ran out of money and stopped. And flying school went broke and folded....... Some years passed, I got married, had kids and after a receiving a small inheritance (Thanks Mum!) I took it up again this time with Brindabella flying school and you'll never guess what happened to them.
About the only real positive is that I took up gliding with the Canberra Gliding club and they still seem to be going strong. Perhaps my curse is losing it's potency and I might be ably to finish my power training at last. Any schools game enough?
