    RAA members market (Aviation Classifieds) is down to 8 aircraft for sale. I've never seen so few.

    I am confident those who know a bit about Jabiru do recognise and appreciate the ongoing contribution made by Rod and many others including their current team who are always very helpful and open with advice and support which is mostly reciprocated by supporting the factory. Nothing wrong with trying to save a few bucks by hunting around. Nothing Jabiru sell is gold plated when compared with Rotax Continental or Lycoming which is something we easily loose sight of sometimes, that is just how spoilt we are by this local product.

    Still competitive with what else is around, at about $132k USD a 430/230 is in a class of its own. A great aircraft to fly as well.

    Just want to give a plug (pun intended) to an Australian business who are very helpful and competitive with the supply of spark plugs. I am not associated with them in any way however I and others in our hangar buy D9ea Jabiru plugs from them as they are cheap, if you find a better price they will beat it by 5% which they do honor. No postage charged on orders over $49. https://www.sparkplugsdirect.com.au/ If you have any suppliers who have great prices on other consumables let us know.

    Just an update...the bolts were 4mm hex head...rodknee was all over this and picked it, phoned me the other night ...Thanks. So for the record CAMit 40a alternator backplate cover screws are automotive 4mm hex head 20mm.

    That's exactly what will happen, they will be with the exhaust springs which are also missing! Definitely only securing the cover but thanks for the heads up Thats where Ill be when they open in the morning ...thanks

    During routine maintenance I have misplaced the 3 backplate fastening bolts from the CAMit 40a alternator. Hopefully someone has an idea about what bolts I need.

    Check out the green in the picture with the Ivanhoe to Menindee road through the middle. A change from my usual blue sky red/dirt pictures from out this way which are the usual state of affairs in the Far West of NSW.

    The International flight training academy at Mildura is apparently no more and dozens of training aircraft which have been sitting idle on the field since COVID shut it all down.

    Was intended to control access to freight and baggage areas at major airports not interfere with access to an avgas bowser or private hangar. To extend it to airfields with RPT operations at regional airfields is a a joke. There have been ongoing issues with baggage handlers etc at major airports wearing asic cards that are expired, and owned by someone else. In almost 40 years of flying I have never known a GA pilot who needed to access the secure areas of an airport terminal. If you really must have them, make the RPT aprons and baggage areas off limits without a card and leave all other areas out of the requirement. I believe ASIC system is an expensive unenforceable joke.

    To put positives up to those who manage an airfield I am after positive points to make about what it is recreational pilots bring to the table. Some of my thoughts.... Offer diversity for interests/hobbies making that area more attractive Provide a starting point for training pilots and maintenance workers Economic benefits contributing to sustainability of related infrastructure

    Not sure what the private insurance requirement is except most club managed hangarage seems to be covered by the club.

    I am aware that fees and costs can vary significantly. In some regional; areas in NSW, VIC and SA Club hangar fees can be from around $2 a day with long term leases, Hangar leases $10 a week per aircraft and another $250 a year per hangar where the club, manages the airfield , yearly lease fee of $450 per hangar to council in at least one council operate strip. One thing I see is that where there is reasonably priced hangarage there seems to be an active recreational flying community.

    Wishful thinking unfortunately turboplanner but hopefully some progress to be made after recent change of councillors who seem more flexible in their views and open to listen. The benefits of an airfield to a community are far more reaching than just a profit making enterprise, an observation which is hopefully being recognised with the recent Moorabbin fiasco. User pays must include the community who benefit in ways that don't make it to a balance sheet. The question posed by trailer about how much money gets scoffed by collection companies is an interesting one and a point which seems to without an answer. I suspect it is the lions share which would negate many benefits of the fee for service model. Right wrong or indifferent landing fees are regularly avoided by people not making calls or avoiding the field altogether and I don't see that changing.

    Gawler in SA and Daves flying school the Oaks about the cheapest per hour I have seen at under $200 per hour for instruction. All depends on your schedule travel etc. Went through the exercise this year with my young bloke and due to the 900km round trip for us we stayed for 7 days at a time on 4 occasions and he flew weather permitting. The older you are the harder it is to learn so that intensity of every day can be tiresome and not end up saving money. I think finding the a school/instructor which suits you is the best value because you will learn faster and enjoyment is key.

    Can someone point me to the Victor 1 procedures on Oz Runways, have tried to find it in ERSA and AIP and must be having a typical man look.
