    Gidday! I had a heart transplant in 2001 and regained my class 2 medical here in Australia a few years later. As you're probably aware your transplanted kidney is likely to be in tip top condition due to close monitoring by the Drs. Aviation risk comes from side effects of anti rejection drugs which cause increased cholesterol, increased blood pressure and long term hardening of artery walls. Being toxic the drugs also impact kidney and lever function. The CASA here are concerned about sudden incapacitation so as long as all the above factors are monitored and controlled a class 2 is achievable with mandatory review every year.

    Check out 10.15.2 of Manual of Standards for airports. Very interesting that most of you guys are blaming the pilots. Was there enough runway friction, should it have been grooved, was it contaminated with rubber build up, if so we're the pilots notified by notam?

    Chapter 7 of the Manual of Standards for Part 149 which has already been published and adopted by Parliament requires the Raaus and all other self administered aviation organisations aircraft register to be published.

    Hi Rick - I don't really want or need to fly GA but Raaus is not a clear winner either. Polo Flat is 1.2hrs away (Canberra based) and closed. Goulburn is 1.2hrs away but unfriendly to Raaus (anyone really). At 2.4hrs drive return, a simple flit around Goulburn for 1hr pretty much makes it a full day commitment once you allow time for dragging the plane out, preflight, paperwork, (lunch somewhere in this mix) fly, land, refuel and put the plane to bed. Maintaining VH gives access to Canberra and a few 150''s or warriors which can be slotted in after work on the way home. Tough decision. An Raaus suitable field near Canberra would be awesome but has been discussed infinitum on this forum so I'm not going any further on that one!!!

    OK I see your point. This is starting to ring alarm bells for me. Do I (as the only heart transplant recipient in aus to hold a full ppl) continue to push for the ppl on an annual basis, risking a medical refusal and potential cancellation of licence, or do I simply not renew so I can be guaranteed to retain the certificate (currently have both). I'm starting to lean towards the latter.....

    Don't see any other aviation body in Australia running an annual survey. At least they're trying. ....

    It can be NOTAM-ed now. If an aerodrome operator has an entry in ERSA and for some reason cannot supply, they can issue a NOTAM. It changed earlier this year.

    I'd agree. It sounds like if you do something stupid in a VH aircraft (low flying etc ) and you loose your licence you must advise any sport aviation organisation you have any other certificate with so they can decide what to do with you. Sounds reasonable to me.

    Anyone noticed the strip at lanyon homestead, just north of tharwa?? Have seen a tiger moth, jabiru and a 172? there at times.....
