  1. I keep meaning to get to Sackville then something else comes up (Broken foot at the moment hence all the posts in here), will you keep her there?
  2. Don't pick up MSFS much but I've had a play with Ant's Tiger Moth and its a good un. Quick heads up you made a typo in your desciption of differential aileron travel, just a typo for sure but it makes the sentence nonsensical Thanks for the video
  3. Interesting point, perhaps one of the few beneficial aspects of living in a small country is that I have dozens of airstrips within comfortable range, all quite different with circuits in different directions, differing elevations, differing surfaces, differing noise abatements, levels of control/uncontrolled and joining procedures. With the huge distances involved in Australia I imagine it's quite a different reality for recreational pilots
  4. Unless of course it had a reverse pitch function on the props as most Turboprops do for braking, then you could lose one side and still have control of Yaw (Also I imagine both props could be powered by either engine...the whole drive system will likely be linked )
  5. Yea Knowing some visual landmarks to know when to come out of the turn is Handy as the compass will miss read whilst still in the turn. (I'm probably falling into the trap of appearing to teach granma how to suck eggs at this point...sorry Danny)
  6. Danny, what's the legal requirements to keep your rating over there (here its a biennial hour with an instructor and 12 hours PIC in the previous 24 months which is a ridiculously low hours requirement imo) 7 months is enough to get Rusty for sure. I suppose you can look at it as having a slightly harder regime of RH Circuits in a high wing from the left seat will keep you on your toes regarding lookout but does of course mean a slightly tougher workload for you as you slide back into things. Best of luck.
  7. I suspect not in the early years, but like any organisation as soon as it reaches the size where lots of middle management types are being hired then the chances of corporate bullshit and arse covering taking over skyrockets
  8. NT sorry wrong forum please delete

  10. Fan-bloody-tastic. I remember seeing the Mig29 OVT display and thinking yea thats pretty unbeatable, but when yo take the aircraft used into account this performance is right up there with the fighter jockey's stuff
  11. Nobody claimed that. Fact is we have here a thread that has multiple interpretations of flight procedures and little consensus, including one post claiming in some circumstances its OK to fly in the opposite direction to everyone else whilst joining a circuit. We aren't talking about people making mistakes here, what we have is people stating different interpretations of procedures that are in their opinions the correct ones.
  12. Re: drones use in crop spraying, I know Japan and probably other countries have used large radio controlled helicopters in that role for decades, so Drone usage is certainly feasible. Perhaps a matter of area involved v cost differential of manned aircraft V autonomous or remotely powered vehicles
  13. The up-down thing Is to do with what hemisphere (north or south) you live in ...In houses on or very near the equator the switches are left for on right for off
  14. Hello Meglin, I remember you from some years ago in the UK Microlight forum (no longer exists) Your propellers always seemed competitive in price and of high quality, unfortunately I can only fit what is approved to my aicraft I wish you and your country well and hope there is light in your future
  15. Nev no need for the disingenuous waffle because you cant actually admit you said something that was mistaken (something we all do). The quote function is there in plain sight at the bottom of every post......1 click
  16. Nope still dont know what you mean..... repost the picture or quote the post containing this picture
  17. Indeed which is why I mentioned them, but going back to Pure piston Aero engines as discussed were there any that beat the Napier sabre in SFC?
  18. Deltic was a work of art, but as far as aero engines are concerned wasnt the Napier Sabre the pinnacle of Reciprocating engine developement? P.S. leaving aside the turbine compound wrights in B29s etc
  19. No idea what you mean re a hardened pin. ..and yes it does NEED a more powerful starter, which is why Rotax decided to upgrade it some time ago Poor starts kill the sprag clutch which is on many installations an engine out job
  20. Did you get any comparison pictures zg?, I could probably do with changing my old black starter for a heavy duty version
