  1. Perhaps moneybox could inform on where he read these reports
  2. Yes and the reason it causes wear and damage is the power pulses so no amount of balancing will alleviate this it might reduce vibration but you still shouldnt idle down anywhere near those RPMs (600 RPM)
  3. the rear of the prop shaft on a 912 simply inserts into a bearing in the gearbox casing, there is no way to mount a balance master there, do you mean behind the prop hub?
  4. Yes most glass sailplanes use epoxy resin, I'm not at all sure about the Panels of a Skyranger Paul Dewhurst at Flylight is probably the person to ask
  5. Well the centre of lift (or centre of pressure) isnt strictly fixed and moves with AoA so not a good candidate for use as a Datum Its partly a convenience thing as long as its a fixed airframe point that wont ever be modified and isnt a ridiculous distance from the centre of mass then jobs a good un
  6. I hesitate to reply as Im in UK with likely different regulations but as nobody else seems to be answering then my take is that it probably hinges on whether or not there is any financial gain to the pilot moving the aircraft, otherwise its just a flight like any other.
  7. This was taken in Wales, a looooong way from South Africa but to answer the road question it is simply obscured by the rising terrain in the foreground. Nice googling btw🤣
  8. its an A400M They fly past my house often before turning low level up a valley Here is a pic
  9. Yea, I probably just got deceived by that clamp you fitted, makes the filter look shorter (the earlier filters were shorter) I wasnt commenting on the dirt. BTW, Rotax dont recomend fitting any sort of retainer/safety to the filter but your choice of course and does no harm. but next time you fit one hand tight, try removing by hand after an engine run. I've never known one come lose. The exhaust interference with the filter is common, I have to loosen that header every oil change. (I do oil and filter every 50 hours, even though I run Mogas) Oh and that crappy torx head magnetic plug was superseded by a hex-bolt head type some time ago, they are much easier to remove without damage but rather expensive (Apologies I now see the Different mag plugs were already discussed)
  10. MB, that looks like a very old type of Rotax filter that was changed many years ago to a slightly taller type..check it 825016 Is the current part number (Replaces 825012)
  11. Oh right, so it's my fault that the thread drifted to motorcycles and I get a warning for other peoples posts.
  12. Yet Brendans post of a static engine is fine and dandy? Yea I see you matey
  13. There is an aviation link as I described above, do you just come here to cause grief?
  14. It needs to be about aircraft? .....Sorry thread title makes no mention😁 🤪 ...and tbf there is an aviation link to these oddities
  15. https://www.choppersaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6505
  16. 9 cam chains ...eek Pusher prop seems odd, maybe running it backwards for reduced thrust on the rig?..what direction does the engine run?
  17. Thanks, 30 hours seems far more in the realms of reality than 3 hours
  18. You're kidding?, so what is the figure for whatever you class as a PPL holder then? Over here the Microlight/Light Sports pilots fly a lot more than the full on GA pilots and I don't think any class as low as 3 hour PA, in fact you'd lose your rating with hours that low.
  19. Airports or airfields?, and who owns and funds their upkeep? (Moneybox states airfields) Interesting either way as there is no airfield/airport in my country that doesnt charge handsome fees to keep an aircraft on their premises. Are you charged landing fees or some other movement charge at these 3 'airports'
  20. Eh?, were you expecting it to be free?
  21. I used to think we had an over abundance of bureaucracy here in the UK, but reading the machinations on here makes me almost feel blessed
  22. Apologies if most are already familiar with the story of this incredible Lady .... the Ercoupe pic in the silly forum reminded me and I thought maybe this would help inspire a student who was struggling a bit as to what is possible if you really want to do it.
  23. If you can drive a car, you can fly an airplane.” That's what advertisements from the Engineering and Research Corporation said about the Ercoupe, a plane you purchased from a department store and was once billed as the Ford Model T of airplanes
  24. They also had huge 'runways' to get off
