  1. Sorry, I have no idea what difference that makes to how you record hours???
  2. Engine and airframe hours the same....always gives me a giggle
  3. Was present at the show that year and I've yet to see this dispaly beat for shear manouvrabilty displayed, though as I tried to say before its part pilot ability and part what the aircraft is capable of performing and structuraly withstanding
  4. Was referring to the airbus helicopter Ss
  5. i don't get your point? it's a Transall and happened years ago.
  6. Yep, ADSB broadcasts flight level I.E. what your Altimeter would show when set to 1013Hpa. It wont show correct Altitude AMSL unless the actual QNH at that time is also 1013 Hpa. Im not sure why this is being discussed though
  7. Some lovely grass strips around the Welsh Borders, have fun
  8. Video is showing is a higher compression than normal for the time engine with a 2 stage induction system, never heard it called Over Compression before, seems like one of those terminology inventions Americans are fond of
  9. Wow, I thought that was an obscure one.
  10. I keep meaning to get to Sackville then something else comes up (Broken foot at the moment hence all the posts in here), will you keep her there?
  11. Don't pick up MSFS much but I've had a play with Ant's Tiger Moth and its a good un. Quick heads up you made a typo in your desciption of differential aileron travel, just a typo for sure but it makes the sentence nonsensical Thanks for the video
  12. Interesting point, perhaps one of the few beneficial aspects of living in a small country is that I have dozens of airstrips within comfortable range, all quite different with circuits in different directions, differing elevations, differing surfaces, differing noise abatements, levels of control/uncontrolled and joining procedures. With the huge distances involved in Australia I imagine it's quite a different reality for recreational pilots
  13. Unless of course it had a reverse pitch function on the props as most Turboprops do for braking, then you could lose one side and still have control of Yaw (Also I imagine both props could be powered by either engine...the whole drive system will likely be linked )
  14. Yea Knowing some visual landmarks to know when to come out of the turn is Handy as the compass will miss read whilst still in the turn. (I'm probably falling into the trap of appearing to teach granma how to suck eggs at this point...sorry Danny)
  15. Danny, what's the legal requirements to keep your rating over there (here its a biennial hour with an instructor and 12 hours PIC in the previous 24 months which is a ridiculously low hours requirement imo) 7 months is enough to get Rusty for sure. I suppose you can look at it as having a slightly harder regime of RH Circuits in a high wing from the left seat will keep you on your toes regarding lookout but does of course mean a slightly tougher workload for you as you slide back into things. Best of luck.
  16. I suspect not in the early years, but like any organisation as soon as it reaches the size where lots of middle management types are being hired then the chances of corporate bullshit and arse covering taking over skyrockets
  17. NT sorry wrong forum please delete

  19. Fan-bloody-tastic. I remember seeing the Mig29 OVT display and thinking yea thats pretty unbeatable, but when yo take the aircraft used into account this performance is right up there with the fighter jockey's stuff
  20. Nobody claimed that. Fact is we have here a thread that has multiple interpretations of flight procedures and little consensus, including one post claiming in some circumstances its OK to fly in the opposite direction to everyone else whilst joining a circuit. We aren't talking about people making mistakes here, what we have is people stating different interpretations of procedures that are in their opinions the correct ones.
  21. Re: drones use in crop spraying, I know Japan and probably other countries have used large radio controlled helicopters in that role for decades, so Drone usage is certainly feasible. Perhaps a matter of area involved v cost differential of manned aircraft V autonomous or remotely powered vehicles
