  1. I am looking for ideas for the colour scheme for a Savannah S. I hope to paint the plane myself so it needs to be fairly simple. So far I have come up with the scheme in the attached image. I really like this one too ACCUEIL - GEMILIS-AERO. All ideas welcome savannah colour.pdf savannah colour.pdf savannah colour.pdf
  2. Just got back from another brilliant flight under instruction. We did a navigation to a near by airfield where there was lots of local traffic including a glider tow, helicopter and various light aircraft. I couldn't make head nor tail of much of the radio chatter as we had some reception problems and of course the local language is French. The instructor could hardly understand some of the calls either but he did give some sage advice to listen out for the number of either of the runways so at least you know that particular aircraft is on one of the circuits.
  3. Would it be worth making Ali tanks for the Savannah? Any idea what sort of weight saving if any there would be?
  4. I thought that the extended baggage area was at the expense of a parachute? I would be interested to see how the two fit? For those hard to get to holes a small child on a stick may help...
  5. As a complete novice, approx 15 hrs and no sign of a solo! I am glad to hear its not just me. My biggest problem is understanding others in French over the headsets, it really is a test of your hearing.
  6. For the engine I have found a place in the UK that rebuilds them, they seem very good but he has difficulty finding the 100's in good condition. I also see that for the type of old man flying I want to do the 80 may offer a little more comfort. That said the 100 in the mountains we have round here would be a reassuring advantage. I will just have to see what is available at the time. I fully agree with what you say about the corrosion protection, it drives me nuts reading all the contradictory opinions and advise. It may well be that a compromise is the best solution, protect all closed and hidden sections and leave the exposed parts with a "wax oil " type spray if needed.
  7. Thanks for the offer. Might as well cash in the pension and buy my radio with it!
  8. I hope to be making good use of the build forums that is for sure, sadly I think a flight to Australia when finished is probably a bit too far me :(
  9. Thanks to all for the replies. I hope to order the equipment with a wiring harness and if I get it slightly too long I can always chop a bit off. From pure guess work and measuring my imaginary plane(me sat on a kitchen chair) I will probably go for 4m.....
  10. We are based in the Pays de Gex next to the Swiss border near Geneva. I am very happy to have found this forum and so many welcomes and information already! I thank you all and look forward to future constructive exchanges.
  11. Merci de votre reponse, Je suis en pays de Gex et je fait le vol a Bellegarde. Dessole mon francais ecrit est pas bon mais je parle bien :)
  12. Dear all, I need to make up a wiring harness and dont have access to a Savannah at the moment. If I mount the Trig headers centrally at the top of the dash how long a cable would I need to then mount the remote transmitter modules in the space behind where the seats join the tail section? I dont need to be too precise. Thanks in advance Richard
  13. Hello and thanks for letting me join, I live in France and am still learning to fly, I hope in the next few months to start building a Savannah S from ICP. I seem to spend most of my time trawling the net to find all the advice and equipment I will need. Things on my mind currently: 1 new or recon engine 2 80 or 100hp (I think 80 for my needs is enough) 3 Get the radio and transponder now to take advantage of the weak pound 4 corrosion protect all the ali parts before assembly and how 5 painting (or not) 6 Hangar space I am sure there are many questions and adventures to come.
