  1. What happened to IMSAFE, before flight. Pressure itis, get there itis are killers
  2. I followed the same path for similar reasons, only now I sit in a 182 on my own or 1 passenger if anyone is not to busy to come with me, which chews through a bit of Avgas per hour. I had about 80 hours Raaus when i started and took around 26 hours to convert over with the differences in handling, extra things to do like prop and mixture, controlled aerodromes etc. The figures of 5hrs to convert that are sometimes shown must be for geniuses. The bonus now being I can now jump in on a good day and be on the coast in an hour without worry if the tower is open-I actually find I like them there because having someone guide you helps with workload a bit when approaching somewhere new or busy.
  3. The detail in that cub is great, it took me a moment to realise it was a model. It was as if someone was flying it from the rear seat and filming.
  4. Post #10 in Hayward’s bay emergency landing. There is one. I have gone back looking, some have disappeared. I will write down others if I spot them. Cheers
  5. Any info on why “&amp” appears everywhere. I thought it was a substitute for a bad word but that does not make sense.
  6. Did someone hop in the Delorean, we jumped a bit or something.
  7. Any one heard how Bex is going with recovery. Hope all is well. clint
  8. Non better practice than a successful real one. great outcome.
  9. Missing Man, the Len Waters Story was an excellent read. Reading Pierre Closterman's the Big Show at the moment, having trouble putting it down I have found if I see an interesting book on aviation, especially military I tend to grab it. Collection is growing steadily. If they keep putting crap on TV at night I will be reading lots more.
  10. Hi Stu, Air law is one, human factors, Basic aeronautical knowledge, Aircraft radio operation, usually befor you solo I have found some books better than others to understand. ask your local school what they require . Clinton
  11. If the weather is as good as today without the fog it would be great to fly to. the program is in again tommorrow. huntervalleyairshow.com.au has a flying in page with frequency’s and times for arrival. great show today. Only downside was 40 minutes without moving in car park whilst people pushed in from sides, on exiting, main road Marshall’s were excellent at moving traffic once you got there.
  12. Anyone else heading to Cessnock today. Looking forward to the warbirds, especially the Spitfire.
  13. Boy that plane pops of the ground quick Blueadventures, nice to see green scenery for a change?
  14. It can be a lot worse. I only got 8 hours in on a mandatory 4 months oil change in C182 at a cost of $400 for filter and oil change( along with 50 L per hour of Avgas). Been busy on good days and shitty weather on days off, about 4 hours up now and not far from next one. How oil causes a plane to fall out of sky I have no idea, but thems the brakes as they say. This is on top of a 100 hourly that made a dent in $3500.00 to comply with. “Free” rego and no licence fee directly does have its draw backs. i need to get my RAA plane going again.
  15. Bushbaby 500 from kitplanes for Africa.
  16. I thought an RPL did not cost per year, but requirement to pay for medical $75.00 unless you have extra stuff to test for. also BFR to be completed. should still need RAAus membership, and current Raa BFR to jump in numbers plane. i don’t think my RAAus is current due to not taking BFR on time, even though I fly around 50 hrs a year in VH rego. cheers clinton
  17. What’s better than owning 1 warbirds. Owning 2 stuck together. Got to love that sound.
  18. Hope it is going well for you Brent. Nothing more fun than getting back in the air. cheers clinton
  19. That’s not a lot of time from stoppage until the ground is there. Maybe time for some practice next flight.
  20. Hope he is Ok. Must be scary watching those houses and trees coming towards you with no other options.
  21. Why USA citizens only, is old tech now. Would be great with a fighter game installed.
  22. My brain hurts. Too much overload and too hot to go flying☹️
  23. I don't think anyone has made an accurate gauge, fuel flow meter measuring what has been used versus known quantity via accurate dip-stick or visually full tanks of a known capacity would be the best way of determining fuel remaining. cars, caravans and trucks are not reliable in tank gauges.
  24. Might just need the cylinder bolts tightening up a bit? Looks like it is all still there.
  25. Same here Bex, best of luck with the op and recovery, want to see your project at the end when you’re better. cheers clintonb
