  1. nose wheel please. some of us are still on traing wheels
  2. I hope that’s a moped on the way to a costume party and not a flying machine.
  3. This one should end on that positive comment and we all get on with safe, fun flying.
  4. Aren’t those guys insane. Too small of a hole in too big of a space for my liking. Still a brilliant job of timing..
  5. With you dual controls and pedals spaced that way in the picture are you seating in tandem offset to the side? Just curious cheers clint
  6. I have done my requirements for issue of RPL, eagerly awaiting my papers so that I can go flying again. Hopefully the weather will be nice to me and I can go out and try my first $100 hamburger (probably $200 or $300 with 182 fuel bill)
  7. look at the aircraft extremley closley. i bought what was a good price. only to have spent 3 years and 10k extra fixing and still havent flown it.
  8. I found the Stewart systems gear good on the Bushbaby repair areas after watching all of their Youtube vids to see how to prep, apply and paint-much better than reading about it. Seems to go a long way too.Only thing I would do different next time is use a flex agent in paint( I used PPG auto paint,) I have found that it cracks whilst working inside the airframe and bumping fabric.
  9. Looks pretty good to me. Wouldn’t mind parked in my hanger space. Big sub da woofer for gun noises would complete it.
  10. Has any one else had trouble logging into Naips?, went to check weather today and does not want to Let me log in. It might be overload from the new GAFs.
  11. sam allen wholesale marine have a good quality usb charging sockets in 2.1 A and the digital display of voltage with a floating decimal point. both use same size hole. I have found their electrical stuff to be good unlik e a lot of import peices i come across in my work. yet to check on radio interference
  12. hope things start to look up for you soon Bex. will look forward to your progress updates when things line up better for you. cheers Clinton
  13. would've like to have flown in. haven't had enough hours in the days to finnish all my work and the final bit of training to get set free in the 182. Hope it all goes well over there. should make the next one.
  14. Even in the current classifieds there are some very affordable options on offer if you really want to fly and are not fussed about excessive speed. Two I have seen are less than a fishing boat, or a nice motorbike, and both have folding options for small storage. I know if I couldn’t use my ticket from no hire plane I would be looking at these type of options.
  15. Getting the hang of the 182 differences now. 6 out of 6 landings that I was pleased with on Saturday morning. You tube helped. I watched Gary Wing's and Ron Michado's videos over and over this week before going, found knowing what the view should look like throughout the approach and landing helped.
  16. Hi Guys, I'm in the 182, the other chap is in the 172. Ralph, I showed you pm list to the instructor after my first go, so I didn't come across as a know better type. He liked the ideas presented. We have loaded half of the weights in the rear, with a marked improvement in how much elevator is left to use on the flare. I am going to add another 20 kg for next time. I am just going to hope that the wind stays down for Wednesday morning, so that I can really get a feel for the aircraft without the challenges of cross wind on top of it. The grass strip would have only had 10 degrees off centre line the other day. Cheers Clint
  17. We tried 20 degree with some power on which improved things, might try 10 or less to see how that does, after all we have 2200m to play with.
  18. Never, when it is for fun , why would you do that to yourself. Also find it a bit easier to keep the nose wheel up in sport star. 30R was the duty RWY today, with all the other bigger/faster/more experienced traffic around I doubt they would have given permission for the grass X strip. The next one should be better, early morning has consistently had less wind here. Then it will prove if it is me or conditions. Either way I have to learn to handle things better if I want to play in the big playground.
  19. Going through the same trials again late today, good 15 knot cross wind gusting 20 on second lesson of circuits in my 182. Horrendous landings ( compared to the sport star on a calm day) I am hoping for no wind on my next early morning lesson. There is a lot more going on especially when learning to operate in CTA at the same time. I would like to show the instructor I can do a lot better. With 80 plus hours up on RAAus aircraft, I was thinking it would not be so tricky to get on the ground, the flying bit is fine I find that part quite easy. Good luck with it for both of us
  20. Had my first official lesson in the 182 today. It was a surprise to experience the full envelope of performance. 40KIAS with full flap to 130 KIAS clean. The weight difference is noticeable from a RAAus machine also. I think I'm going to enjoy this transition
  21. I have weighed myself, the mrs and 2 kids, even the 182 can only Carry us plus 250L of fuel and 20 kg of equipment/luggage. At least that is 4 hrs plus reserves. I have learnt Even bigger craft have limits. Will have to keep dieting for a bit more.
  22. That's awesome. Don't want that wind to die even with the big flaps. Would love to learn enough to be able to do that one day.
  23. Has anyone actually stated they are going to take away your right to fly small 1 person machines or not let you operate them out in the boonies ie class g. To some the CTA access will be great. Our training facility teaches us in CTA then takes it off you until 1530 on a Saturday or Sunday, which is quite limiting when shorter days are in effect.(same up till 0800in mornings) Weight limits, they are talking about going up, not taking away from bottom end of scale. The greenies have been spouting no gas guzzling fossil fuel cars for the past 30 years I can remember and no one is taking away our dinosaur ones yet, even thought the Prius etc is here. Some people who like to criticise the people at the top, do have the option to nominate if they wish to stand up. We need RAAus to be able to fly legally. Until some one comes up with a working other option what can you do. I doubt there are a lot of wives/husbands out there in the real world who would let there spouses, father or mother of their children hop into something that looks like a hills hoist raped a lawnmower and be happy about it. We have evolved for better or worse into a more modern fleet. I love old stuff (still own Valiants) but I would not be allowed to do that kind of stuff anymore. If we were all honest most wouldn't despite what we may tell ourselves or the divorce rate would skyrocket.
  24. Go Biggles. Could be like Stirling Moss for Chrysler. (I'm a Mopar man)
  25. Nothing like a stroll down the street to work to knock out the hours. Used to live a few Kay's from my workshop, home for dinner, back to work until 1 or 3 am. 30 km commute now makes me really consider is it worth it now= more time not at work, yay.
