  1. I think what I've landed on, more or less is that if it goes INSIDE the engine, I won't muck around. If it's on the OUTSIDE, then it's worth investigating other sources. In this case I class the oil filter as INSIDE because it effects the oil which is 'inside'. So, while no one was able to tell me if that dealer was reputable or not, I went and bought it elsewhere. You had to contact them first to order. This is the 21st century. Click n pay, baby!
  2. I utterly agree with you. And if someone can give me the part number right now, and show they have been using that filter for years, I'm onboard! I beg to differ about the oil hose..that seems to be inexplicably hard to pin down a basic replacement that is readily available
  3. What skippy and I are doing though in the main is buying the same part that Rotax use, but before they slap a Rotax sticker on it. Case in point is the starter solenoid. They don't make starter solenoids.they source theirs from Denso. So you can pay I can't remember, say $250 for a 'Rotax' solenoid or about $70 for the exact same part, from the same factory. Not a knock off, but the same part. And skippy is right about the oil filter. Rotax don't make them, it will be for some other engine/s. If you can crack the code, then you can pay the automotive price for the same part and quality. Unless it's for a BMW. I'm beginning to realise if it was for a BMW it'll cost the same. Right now though I don't think anyone can tell me what the automotive OEM is for that filter. And I want it now. 😄
  4. Most recently I bought the 90° choke cable tube from AliExpress and throttle adjuster from a go kart shop
  5. Thats fine. Like the Opel/Vauxhall fuel pump. But if no one gives me a definitive part number, right now I'm not going to muck around with it. Remember I tracked down the Denso solenoid part number and a possible aftermarket starter motor. I'm onboard with avoiding the Ro-tax 😄
  6. They don't supercharge quite nicely?
  7. Yeah, even at $50 I wouldn't mind. A guy at work kept saying to me- 50 bucks! What a Rip off! But 50 bucks isn't even half a tank of fuel in my plane. And I'm happy to just burn that up 😁
  8. V12s supercharge quite nicely 🙂
  9. These guys do a good price. Anyone bought from them before? https://pmaviation.com.au/rotax/
  10. Facthunter wants to buy a Rotec radial, install a supercharger and then fly to 1945 😀
  11. My original statement was that V8s supercharge nicely. Nothing you are saying negates that 🙂
  12. No lag on a supercharger - that's why they use them for drag racing. Plenty or not, when you are on the road, and you see a Mercedes with a 'Kompressor' badge, it has a nice lil supercharger nestled quite neatly in the confines of the engine bay 🙂
  13. Most people assume a supercharger to mean mechanical, usually belt driven. And then a turbo supercharger is just referred to as a turbo. V8s in cars generally have ONE mechanical supercharger. The way the inlets sit inside the V lends itself to that configuration
  14. I picked something deliberately lairy to make a point 😁 There are plenty of regular cars with mechanical superchargers nicely confined in the engine bay. Look at the Mercedes Kompressor range.
  15. Youve not looked too closely at a hot rod then. V seems nearly ideal for supercharging
  16. I must missed something. I prefer the Singa bird when I can 😀
  17. Seems to me if I just go with the Castrol gear previously mentioned, which available from Repco I should be golden. It also means if I'm travelling and find i need more I can get it from many car parts stores. Heh. If my plane ever gets to the point I can fly it anywhere...
  18. V8s supercharge quite nicely 🙂
  19. Repco are showing the concentrate. Forgot to pop in today but will tomorrow
  20. Yes, my link is for concentrate. Demineralised water is cheap enough too
  21. Cool. So just this stuff https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/engine-oils-fluids/coolant/castrol-radicool-coolant-concentrate-1l-3424673/p/A9458861?rgfeed=true&cid=google-shopping&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&region_id=100352&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0bunBhD9ARIsAAZl0E2rb3iqhcG67iPznsxs4IP52dclHIZeSPIwGuGa4TuL_9suGD7CGAwaAu1oEALw_wcB
  22. Engine is 912 uls. I think 2017.
  23. Tuned pipes too 😊
  24. From Rotax point of view it's fine- went together easily enough in the factory, what do they care if it's hard for someone else to remove 😄
  25. Rotax 912 90° carby tube for choke cable. To get two of those genuine, about $150 Inc freight. Or go to Ali express 🙂 https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005004164377398.html?spm=a2g0n.order_detail.order_detail_item.3.604cf19cHB72xq I'm always mindful of cheap n cheerful. If it's something complicated and bespoke, I'll go genuine. But Rotax don't make the carbies, or the parts hanging off them. So why pay the Ro-tax?
