  1. Ok guys. I have quotes from: AGL aviation AV cover Aviation Insurance Online Agile Who has had happy experiences with any of these? And especially if you actually had to make a claim and the experience wasn't totally awful.

  3. Plenty of times I've heard of one person surviving and another dying. I mean, the first heavier than air fatality was of Orville Wrights passenger in 1908.
  4. I've thought about this some more, and I see the virtue in it now and I'm going to quiz the insurer about this. After all, test flying can take quite a while, might end up being a year anyway.
  5. My ex has been phoning around for me. The consensus seems to be that 5 million on the policy is adequate.
  6. Ok then, revise my question to - 25 hours proving thing.
  7. I'm thinking he misunderstood what I was linking too 😊 A (moving) picture is worth a thousand words.
  8. 25 hours test flying is a single event?
  9. I suspect it's a lonely affair in Australia
  10. Yes, but I'm not going to insure it just for test flying, and then do the whole process again once that's done.
  11. BUt not necessary, from a legal standpoint? RA-AUS is 10 million public liability if I recall correctly. If I'm happy with that, legally I'm ok, and hull insurance only is fine?
  12. Now I have the Permit to Test Fly certificate, the next step is insurance. What am I asking for exactly. I just filled in an online quote but noticed it was for hull AND liability. RA-AUS already cover liability, right? So I guess all I'm after is hull?
  13. You seem to have read my mind. I've wanted to build a quick EV street car for quite a while, after discovering the NEDRA web page. I've started to think maybe I'll sell my plane to do that πŸ™‚ This is the webpage, because jokes aside, it's not as easy to google as say, Peugot http://www.nedra.com/
  14. You guys are overthinking it. I'm not talking about buying anything. How do YOU guys find out about stuff you are interested in? Do you go to the corner store and buy an issue of Womans Weekly? Right now, pretend that you have never heard of Peugot, and you want to find out more about Peugot. So go on, type 'peugot' into your search engine. Anyway, I think they may have finally googled it, and despite all your fears, the guy didn't end up sending $10,000 worth of travellers cheques to Prince Mubumbo in Nigeria, but instead learnt about my propeller. My plane now has a Permit to Fly Test Certificate πŸ™‚
  15. I guess so. I live in the world that if I want to find something out about a manufacturer, I can type their info into Google and find their webpage, and find something out about that manufacturer πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  16. Um, what I mean is if someone is wondering about the veracity of my propeller, they need only type the brand into Google and find the website
  17. Agree on the oversight. But verifying the veracity of my propeller is one google search away...
  18. You'll notice on their website that P Prop have in fact supplied props for Tiger Moths ☺️
  19. You would think so. Fingers crossed. I'll get more info from the manufacturer, including his star sign and favourite beer.
  20. Kit plane.. doesn't come with an engine or propeller. Surely whatever you fit, it is the correct propeller?
  21. I'm nearly at the end of my paperwork. But also at the end of my tether. I've supplied an invoice for my prop, but because they haven't heard of that brand need more info. This is the manufacturer: http://www.p-propeller.co.za/ My invoice has a serial number and prop size. Makes me laugh about the thread for making your own propeller since it seems it's not legit if ra Aus have never heard of it πŸ™„ I've half a mind to sell my prop as a decoration and buy a Sensenich. Wonder if ra Aus are familiar with that little cottage business...
  22. No interference in taxiing at any rate. I haven't flown with it yet. I think if it needs suppression, it's all ready built in. Like most things automotive. The capacitor on the other regulator seems to me to be a kludge. I feel the Ducati reg/rec is just not very well designed, and of course it's designed for motorcycles, where radio suppression isn't as critical. It must need some you'd think because otherwise you are causing interference in people's cars and houses as you pass. There are some avionics guys here who can elaborate on the more technical matters, but the upshot is the Dutch reg/reg was designed for aircraft and so doesn't need the external capacitor. PLUS as you noticed, needs less wires. AND can't drain your battery just sitting there πŸ™‚ It's the only aftermarket parts I've bought so far that was probably MORE expensive than the original. But well worth it just for the simpler and more efficient operation 😊
  23. Nope..it's a different design. It doesn't need it.
