My friend, who flies a j230c out of Murray Bridge has modified the throttle knobs using two billiard balls instead. Looks neat. You can fly behind the 8 ball ! His complaint was that the edges of the factory ones were too sharp. My son, who learnt to fly in the original model Jabiru a couple of years back, did a conversion Session last Saturday in a j160. Did not mind the throttle, found the electric flaps to be in the wrong physical place, disliked the sloped double stick and was concerned by the behavior in the flare and the reading of fuel gauges. 6. I am 6ft 5in, so learning in an old Jab was a real issue. But a J160 is much less squeezy . Enough room to wear a top hat for formal occasions Marcus
7. Turtle is correct. Tried this, works well
8. So the conversation starter is this- when did you realize this flying caper was for you? What inspired you to fly? What wonderful things have you been privileged to see in the skies that those on the ground might have missed? I thought about this for a bit. It really started with my son, who was 15 at the time. A friend of mine , who I had known for around 30 years said “bring James up to <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Murray Bridge and I’ll take him flying “. He was an instructor, flying Jabirus. I did, and they did and that was it. He had his Recreational license with the cross country endorsement at 16 and a bit, before he had learnt to drive a car. He has just done his first BFR in fact. So how about me? Its very instructive to be flown down the coast by your son. My Avatar is taken from the right hand seat of a Jabiru. This view is what inspired me to do the same as James had. I got the same cross country endorsement 6 months ago and am now in the market for a plane, probably a J160. It’s a strange world.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Marcus :)
