  1. Except for December it has always been the third saturday in the month, so it should be this weekend.
  2. You need to get those loose bits into tight formation rgmwa. We'll be down there again next year, but at this stage not sure when. We were planning to be down there for the Avalon air show this time, but because of foul weather we were a week late getting away . If I remember rightly, you spent time in Portland?? I might have to suggest to Robyn, that next year when we go to W'bool, to do a WA run via the southern coast, then return via the centre. Mmmm, food for thought!!!
  3. Thanks Flyhi and thanks Wayne for the update. But the update doesn't help me with what I was hoping for, what sort of delay can we expect from rego expiry until we get our rego card? I can understand further delays if they require more info but I am hoping they have all the info they need. Have you received your card yet Alf?
  4. Anybody that have recently received theit rego back, what sort of turn around is there at the moment??? I sent our rego in just on four weeks ago, with photo's, weight and balance sheets etc. From today we're GROUNDED!!!!
  5. We returned from our outback trip last week, and enjoyed our stay at William Creek. We stayed 24 hrs and our bill I thought was reasonable. After arriving we got a air-conditioned room where we had a shower and relaxed a little before wandering over to the pub for a quiet drink before the evening meal. We had barely got our drinks before Trevor Wright (Wrightsair) invited us to join him, Talia (his chief pilot) and another of his pilots at the other end of the bar. We could not have been more warmly welcomed. When we landed Trevor drove over to help us fuel up and then drove us down to the pub to book in. When we were leaving, one of the pilots jumped on the mule and drove us back to our plane. Could not ask for more than that. We will certainly be returning!! Bob & Robyn Dennis RAA registered RV9a
  6. Our 9a rego runs out Sunday so we're not game to go anywhere this weekend incase of weather or something that could stop us getting home in time. The rego was sent in with photo's, w&b and anything else thay may require 3-4 weeks ago. Here's hoping
  7. Thanks John, we're from Watts Bridge so I've seen your Savannah around.
  8. We were going to stop at Loxton Phil but could not arrange fuel (avgas or p/unleaded). Where is the Cadney Park Roadhouse?
  9. Need some "OUTBACK" info. We're returning from Vic back to SE QLD via the red centre. Because we are not 100% sure the departure day from W'bool we are not booking ahead but at this stage we are planning to be departing Monday the 11th. One of the reasons we're not too concerned about booking ahead, is we will have our camping gear with us. Robyn (the wife) is the adventurous type so she is just as happy camping as taking accommodation. But her sister ( who has never been camping and cannot believe people want to sleep in the dirt. YUCK!!!!! ) cannot believe I would let Robyn sleep in a tent out whoop whoop. I told her Robyn is too big for a dingo to drag off but it's not the dingo's she is concerned about. Has she got a point??? We're looking at staying in accommodation if it is available and if we don't have to re-mortgage the house to do so. Our overnight stops are planed to be; Arkaroola, Coober Pedy (underground if we can), Curtin Springs (near Uluru), William Creek and then somewhere between there and home if we need to. Are there any of these places you would recommend not camping at? And advise us to book ahead? Places we plan to get fuel and places we plan to drop into for a rest and top up the tanks; Renmark, Arkaroola, Cooper Pedy, Ayers Rock, Oodnadatta, William Creek, Birdsville and where ever else we stop on our way home. Before I ring and arrange fuel, is there any of these you don't recommend and do you recommend an alternative? Thanks

  11. VFR, Is this for the QRAA tour? Or is this a seperate tour to theirs??
  12. Scott, your welcome to drop in to have a look. We have three mounts, one on the wing, one behind in the cab and one in front in the cab. Ours is a Drift and when it is in the cab we plug it into the intercom. That is done with a small mike in one of the headset ear cups. We're in the Challet/Hangar area at Watts. ACEC on the right at the end of #2 taxiway. We'll be up there this Saterday.
  13. You can see me there waiting for you to land Scott. I had the wing camera mounted that day and I was going to get some footage of you landing in front of me but the battery in the remote had gone flat and it wouldn't turn on. Oh well, another time perhaps.
  14. Can relate to that rgmwa. I grew up in W'bool, so spent a lot of time in my younger days ducking over to Port Fairy. Did our first "flying holliday" in our RV9a down to W'bool last year (from QLD) and flew over Port Fairy but didn't land there. Bob Dennis
  15. We have a XCom radio in our RV9a. Wanting to have the bluetooth ability for the phone, I bought a Zulu Lightspeed but had problems with them working with the radio. As we were heading off on a trip to Vic from Qld I bought a Bose headset and they worked perfectly with the radio. I got onto XCom Australia and they did an adjustment to the headsets firmware (from my understanding). Now both headset's work perfectly.
  16. I remember reading a report by the lady in the Stintson in a forum a couple of years ago. I can't remember the details now but it was something like the guy at this field just serviced her a/c for her as he had done for years. She had never had any trouble getting out of there before but this time the motor was down in power and by time she realised there was something not right, it was too late to abort.
  17. Going to collect the mail the trick is to look at the ground and don't look at them. they will still swoop you but won't come as close as they would if you are looking at them. I don't know if they don't trust you because they can't see your eyes or what.
  18. A senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. "Amazing," he thought as he flew down I-94, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mp... h, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this," and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch, and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." The old gentleman paused. Then he said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a State trooper. I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, sir," replied the trooper.
  19. I had a look at that aircraft at Natfly stevron , nice little aircraft and I know you will be pleased with the 0-233.
  20. Lycoming 0-233 LSA engine 116 hp @ 2800 rpm. 8.1:1 comp ratio, TBI (I do believe the first ones sold came with Carby), Electronic ignition. 219 lb.
  21. Something of interest in this video. At 1.14 into this video, Robyn was unaware, but captured CASA officials giving us a ramp check. I just want to go on record and say they were very friendly. They were interested how I got the RV9a down to weight, asked a few questions on that, thanked me for my time and all was good. It was painless and more of a social chat than a ramp check.
  22. Congratulations, now the real enjoyment begins.
