  1. Maybe someone can update the raa website to give only one message and not 2. Says "Natfly cancelled" and then the link says "natfly is coming".
  2. Website still says that planning for natfly 2015 well under way...???
  3. good of them to let us know.
  4. The onex looks like a brilliant one seater. Downunder and Dazza have it correct I think. Great that the pilots ok. Remember, any landing you walk away from is a good one.
  5. if you are going to hijack a thread, make sure it is not one as sad as this.
  6. what is an ROC? If it is a title then please use the title, not stupid acronyms that devalue the position or whatever it is.
  7. begs the question, why did he run out of fuel??
  8. had one for 5 years, flown into security controlled airports numerous times. never asked for it, havent bothered this year...waste of money
  9. What the hell do comments like these have to do with a missing airliner. Grow up fellas and get back on track. If you dont like the way someones eyes look, then dont look OK!!!
  10. How does a company justify, finding a fault with their engines, puting out an upgrade and making the owner pay for it? They screwed up, they pay, or so I thought...
  11. Don't you hate it when people want to micromanage things that are already entrain...
  12. according to the formulae It doesnt appear that my aircraft would get off the ground (110kg)...lol
  13. If this takes someone 3hrs to complete may I suggest they should not be flying. Most of the questions are basic and people should know the information requested for their own safety. Most of this should have been picked up during flight training.
  14. How about we return to the subject and not wander into the never never of bushfires, which, although tough and very important, have nothing to do with CASA or the conspiracy theories thereof. I believe that certain people in CASA are trying to justify their jobs, and prove their exhorbitent salaries are valid, by attacking RAA Aus and the aircraft owners that are members of it. We are easy targets. I do not believe that CASA want the headache of Ultralight aircraft.
  15. serious face on, back to the circular arguments...lol
  16. Why limit it to 600kg, just because every one else does. 8 passengers, 800kg, 80 kt stall, lets throw common sense out the window and all do what we like... While we are about it, free rego, free licences, no medicals and no safety inspections. Free funeral insurance and free coffee at airports...hell, lets get someone else to fly them to....
  17. of course you can, anything you want as long as its called recreational and not private...!!!
  18. Try taking off from Armidale on a 35 degree day with high humidity. Even my little beast takes a while to get there. Then try to take off at sea level and compare the two. Amazing difference in performance. This what you mean David?
  19. precisely and that's what happens when you try to increase the MTOW past recommended limits.
  20. I thought there was a very good reason for specifying an MTOW. If you cant get over the fence, or the aircraft handles like a bus when flying, then maybe your too heavy. Those wings are only built to take so much, or so I thought. How about we have no MTOW and when the plane cant get over the fence and kills everyone on crashing, then worry about it. I for one, dont push the safety boundaries, or manufacturers specs and I have survived and enjoyed myself so far. However, go ahead, maintain your rights and kill yourselves, not my problem..
  21. The law is...MTOW is a specified number. No excuses for going over, no variation unless by the manufacturer, if you dont like it, cant fly without going over then get another aircraft...QED>
  22. It can be but I leave it up all the time, saves time. The wings are easily removable. Check out the xair aus website for pictures of xair trailers.
  23. There is still cheap 2 seater flying available, I bought a kit, put it together and leaned to fly in it all for less than $26000. Beats the crap out of the price of a plastic, admittedly, 55kts but you cant have everything...
  24. If the conatiner is found to be empty when the aircraft lands, and the pilot states he was carrying it for a friend so that friend could fill it for his own aircraft at the destination, then the jerrycan becomes a standard plastic container? When I transport fuel to the airport in a motor fuel approved container and refuell my aircraft on the airside of the gates, am I using an illegal container to carry aviation usage fuel? (even though it is mogas? Am I legally allowed to refuel the aircraft from this container, and if so, is it then deemed to be a legal container so I can carry it in the aircraft (there is no firewall or barrier between me and the fuel tanks in the aircraft..they are exposed behind the seats and I can reach them if I turn around, so what is the definition of a "cockpit" and "fuel tanks isolated from the passenger area?".)
  25. The MTOW in an ultralight has to be pasted on full view inside the cab of the aircraft. If it aint there, the aircraft aintg legal, so sayeth the manual.
