I use a 17aH SLA battery from supercheap auto. Lasts about 4 yrs. No dramas to date (6yrs), I am on my second one.

Given the office manager just about runs the organisation day to day without help, I reckon thats real value for money.

Not with the witnesses I have, all times were at public functions in company. Pity really, the rest of the staff do a fantastic job for us. They work like one armed paper hangers and are nice and approachable as well. Never gad a problem talking to the staff, and never had a problem getting information and advice. They should be receiving the good salary, not the mouthpiece.

I have met the CEO 3 times. Each time he was drunk and mumbling rubbish. Real good look for the head of our organisation, not. Drop the bugger and get someone that at least projects a good image for the organisation.

Thanks for that, the Xair is stol so shouldn't have any problems. I regularly fly to Bathurst and have sampled the very friendly aero club there. Good crowd that middle NSW crowd.

Low pressure facet is the way to go as per H/Feathers post. I have run one with my 582 for 5 yrs and no problems. Dont forget the bypass/one way valve and filter.

I normally print out the ersa aerodrome page for the aerodromes I will be landing at, passing over and my alternates (dont forget to plan the alternates!). I put these, with frequency, etc in a clear sleeved folder for quick reference. I also put a copy of my plan in there as well incase the one on the kneepad/whatever is lost or destroyed. (I also carry the ersa) Mark your maps as notified by the posters above. Carry a bottle of water because you will get dry and need a drink. Cary some nibbles as well. Mobile phone for emergencies, epirb, credit card and an amount of cash incase of fuel etc off site. Have fun, navs are great and add to the enjoyment and achievement levels tremendously. Once you have them under your belt and get the endorsement, then the country really opens up and the adventures start.

A swift legal kick in the nether regions delivered with alacrity can sometimes have the desired effect. Correct ave8rr, it should have never involved the legal fraternity. The conversations at Raa HQ between the CEO and Pres would have been interesting. One can hope the board used its muscle and broke the boys conspiracy up. Useless waste of funds.

In Goulburn, the 2 flying schools train on gazelles, there are 3 of them and they are all very busy. Certified Props for the Gazelles are now available. I can't see the problem with learning in a Jab 230 but surely experience in all types of ultralights, including thrusters is desirable to make an all round pilot. I agree that Gazelles are a little long in the tooth, but some GA schools are training on aircraft that are over 30yrs old successfully.

I dont think the president and CEO give a toss, and the board, I think, has been blindsided and presented a fait acompli.. Just my opinion.

Wilton is the home for parachuting in the sydney basin. This is attended by many hundreds of people making their first jumps or just participating in the sport they love. It is listed on the sydney vnc as a prohibited area and is reserved for parachutists. The airfield is known and loved by many and I think the parachute fraternity may well be staging their own protests. I do not know who owns the airfield.

Just a short note to say that yesterday, I xsuccumbed to the flying gods and went aloft to poke holes in the sky. The weather was great, the engine purred, Goulburn aerodrome was abuzz with students doing circuits and all in all it was a pleasant day. I departed Goulburn and flew to the Oaks, landed, coffee'd up, talked crap, oggled the aircraft taking off and landing and returned to Goulburn. Great day, great flight. This is what its all about. I do this for fun!!!!!!!!!!! (just realised the coffee cost me $90, thank goodness I had 2 of them.!!!

There is no such thing as a silly question. There are however really stupid answers. If someone wants to know something, and they genuinely dont know the answer, then tell them. Just because you think it is a very simple thing, doesnt mean others do.

If the situation is sub judicae then fine, but please, someone from the other side enlighten us and lets put this puppy to bed. Ian owns this site and as such can post whatever he likes. I feel this site has done tremendous good for the sport and cannot figure what the hell the powers to be have a problem with. If I was in a position of elected responsibility, surely it would be in my interest, and the interest of the membership to have the FACTS out in the open so any accusations of collusion, hidden agenda's, cronyism or other garbage could be dealt with in the proper manner. Ian, can I suggest that your lawyer consider his advice and allow you to put your side fully to the members of this forum and I call on the management of Raa-aus to do so as well, if not in this forum, then on the Raa-aus website so that things like this will not fester and detract from the joy that many people have with this sport. I believe, overall that Raa-aus is reasonably well run by the day to day staff and the elected members of our board, I am still flying, my aircraft is registered and the office staff polite and helpful. Please people, Raa-Aus is not a vehicle for your plans of world domination, screwing your enemies or an avenue for your own aggrandizement, it is an organization of like minded people who are (or should be) interested in flying, manufacturing and generally being around recreational aircraft of ALL types. Lets cut the crap, get this out in the open, settled, and move on.

I look forward to the day when our organization stops acting like a secretive boys club at the top end and becomes open and transparent in all dealings with its members. Personal vendettas and prima donna behaviour from the top elected, and appointed management seem a little childish. What is the stance of the CEO in all this. He has been very quiet re any involvement.
