  1. G'day Mark, Julie and I are looking at putting in a system here on the farm (5kw). What inverter/s should we stay away from knowing that I operate HF radios BELOW 10Mhz? Prob something to discuss with you next time you are here. Cheers
  2. Frank, if the AFR is done in a GA aircraft then this covers the RAAus BFR . I did my CPL AFR just before Xmas and then sent in copy of log book entry with RAAus renewal and new Pilot Cert issued with current BFR. Cheers
  3. Keith, I don't think RAAus would be involved as such however, there are a number of GA training organisations out there that offer training for both the RAAus Cert and GA PPL etc. It will be interesting to see how many prospective students will go the RPL way instead of RAAus Pilot Cert. Same hours requirement. Medical slightly different in that you do have to see a Doctor rather than self certification and the RPL can have endorsements added on. The ONLY issue appears to be the aircraft side of things where the aircraft will be GA and have the maintenance issues that go with that. Cheers
  4. CASA have published some fact sheets on the new Part 61 rules that come into force Sep 14. Here is a link to the new RPL. http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_101934 There are also published fact sheets for things like class/type ratings and medical info etc. Here is the complete list. http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_101913 Cheers
  5. This has been covered in post: http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/report-of-light-aircraft-on-fire-near-gatton.114208/
  6. I believe "E"24 is for LSA only and is to cover changes when something like changing a propellor e.g. Installing a VP prop. The Ibis was factory built but not LSA. Still can't see how what were 24 registered aircraft are now 19 after a long grounding. Appears a "deal" was done. 19 is for amateur built!
  7. Can some one please tell me how the Ibis Which is factory built and WAS registered 24-xxxx can now be registered 19-xxxx? These aircraft weren't 51% built by the owner. It seems to me that rules are being bent to suit as required. Cheers
  8. Some interesting discussions re the Wittman Tail wind on the Oshkosh Discussion Board. http://www.oshkosh365.org/ok365_DiscussionBoardTopic.aspx?id=1235&boardid=147&forumid=178&topicid=4534 Cheers
  9. Bob, not sure of "clean" stall speed but this from an owner of a 0200 powered W8....... 38kts was supposed to be the number but it developed a rapid sink rate before hand and I was always cautious below 45. Cheers
  10. Ross, I thought that to be "experimental" then the 51% rule applied? I am still wondering how some 24 registered aircraft are being registered E24 due some mods like VP props etc. Can you please explain. Cheers
  11. I understand 590Kgs MTOW and BEW around 380KGS with 0200 powerplant. Stall I am told is around 40kts full flap at Gross. Cheers
  12. Any forum members had any experience with the Wittman Tailwind either W8 or W10 models? I believe there are two or three on the RAAus register. Cheers
  13. You might like to also check out the FK9. I think there is one hangared at the SAAA strip. Cheers
  14. Hi Rodr, try Ivan Campbell near Christchurch. http://www.campbellaeroclassics.com/id63.html Cheers
  15. Same in NZ.
  16. Nick, Aren't you wanting to convert your UK licence over to RAAus/HGFA? I would suggest you don't get off side with those who may be doing the conversion for you.
  17. Strapping in the Son in Laws father prior to a "local" around Bundaberg 29 Dec 13.
  18. And ask RAAus to apply for an exemption to have under wing numbers removed as per GA.
  19. Frank, the reference is in the AC: 6.1 Instrument number CASA EX10/10 ‘Exemption — Display of markings and carriage of identification plates’ allows Australian fixed wing and rotorcraft with a maximum take off weight below 5700 kg and operating wholly within Australian territory to be exempt from some of the requirements of CASR Part 45 that cover the location and size of markings and the carrying of an aircraft registration identification plate. 6.2 Under the terms of the exemption, applicable aircraft will be exempt from: • displaying markings on the under surface of the wings as required by CASR 45.045(1); • displaying lateral markings of 300 mm as required by CASR 45.065(3)(b)(ii) and © item 1 — under the terms of the exemption the minimum height is 150 mm; and AC 45-01(2): Nationality and Registration Marks 3 Revised: March 2010 • carrying an aircraft registration identification plate as required by CASR 45.145(1), provided the aircraft carries a fireproof manufacturer’s data plate as required by CASR 21.820. See Section 9.3 ‘Aircraft Registration Identification Plate’ for an explanation of the term ‘fireproof’. Cheers
  20. Ross, are we still going to have to display the rego numbers under the port wing when the new tech manual is issued? GA has done away with this. I thought RAA and GA systems were aligned in this regard. Happy New Year and keep up the good work you are doing in regards to posts to this site. Cheers
  21. One of my sources was from an instructor in NQld who said just that. Some potential students cannot be trained due being over a figure of around 80kgs. My brother in law is one of those people.
  22. I have heard from two sources here in Qld lately that there is a move again to have the RAAus MTOW raised to 680kg. Is this wishful thinking or is it being considered? We still have the same director at CASA and he stopped the last move in this area.
  23. Got picked up from Bundy Airport in a mates brand new (24.5 hours) RV7 and delivered to Hervey Bay where my RV9A was sitting in the maint hangar with a fresh Maintenance Release "Annual". Flew her back to Bundy with a small detour to the west to look over our property (32 acres) which has just had some tree surgery. She is now sitting in the hangar waiting her next outing.
  24. And that's for those who have built their aircraft so they can maintain it and issue a maintenance release. RAAus is just having to do what has been required of SAAA in the past year or so.

    Lismore RV-12

I have the Dynon Skyview in our RV9A. The trim pos indicator is NOT displayed on the Skyview. Flap posn is. The trim posn ind is a stand alone indicator.
