  1. Many thanks Ross. Thought it might of been the one made by Autoflight in Hamilton NZ. This is used by a lot of the Gyro people. Cheers
  2. But you will have to do the SAAA maintenance course to be able to issue the annual maintenance release under the new regulations.
  3. Hi Ross, welcome to the site. It may be on your web site but what brand or type (belt/cog) reduction drive are you using on your Suburu engines? Cheers
  4. This is just following along the SAAA lines. Probably a good thing in my view. The annual inspection should also be carried out by a level two or similar as is the case in US, UK, NZ etc. I wonder how many 19 registered aircraft actually have an annual inspection and NOT just an entry in the log book.
  5. The Readmans as far as I remember made all the Bantam skins for Max Clear. http://www.barsal.co.nz/bantam-microlights.html Cheers

  7. G'day BugsyB, although a bit further away from your area, you could try Hinkler Flying School (Max Jackson) at Bundaberg. Ph 0428 744 804' Cheers
  8. Congratulations Ross, I hope you can now raise the accident investigation and reporting that I know has been high on your list of things that should be done within the association. Cheers
  9. Is there any aviator in the know as to what the new project (BEE Free) from AAK is going to look like? HOT NEWS AND NEW PROJECTS BEE Free For the budget conscious flying enthusiast AAK is pleased to announce the development of a low-cost full-metal three axis high-wing trailer-able aircraft shortly to be made available in kit form or factory built. This aircraft is ideally suited for beginner and intermediate pilots and those wishing to fly on a very low budget. The airframe can be flown as open air cockpit or fully enclosed. Keep watching this space for project updates and more images shortly of this exciting low cost project. Cheers
  10. AGREE Kaz and the direction of orbit will be in the opposite direction to the circuit being flown i.e. away from the landing area. Cheers
  11. Dafydd, found this from the CASA site as a NPRM. http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/newrules/maint/download/nprm0712ms_annexb.pdf My experimental aircraft has the Rego on the side of the fuselage and it was issued with an experimental CofA by CASA inspector. From what I can find there has been no underwing Rego letters since around 2010. Cheers
  12. Bob has Airvans now. I am sure minimum hours are 400-450 due insurance requirements.
  13. Why do RAAus still require the Rego Number under the wing???? CASA have dropped that requirement and I thought the rules were aligned? Removing this requirement could save quite a few dollars to some one registering for the first time and / or after a recover / repaint.
  14. Greg, I have some drawings for a two seater that a lot of the Gyros around Brisbane are based on. I will be back in Bundaberg late Sep and will dig them out. They are in storage. Cheers
  15. As MAJ asked in an earlier post, how about some Aerovee engine (Sonex) owners on here make a comment or two on the engine.
  16. The purported names of the pilots on Asiana Flight 214 arrival at SFO!! "Sum Ting Wong," "Wi Tu Lo," "Ho Lee Fuk" and "Bang Ding Ow"
  17. It beats me as to WHY we need underwing rego numbers. Done away with in other (CASA) areas. Seems RAAus could ask CASA for a rule change and amend ops manual.
  18. I understand the aircraft is damaged as stated above. This from RFDS crew who have seen aircraft there. Will probably have to be barged out.
  19. In NZ all aircraft are registered ZK. PPL or higher holders can fly ultralights if endorsed. No requirement to hold an ultralight certificate or belong to the ultralight association. Why can't PPL or higher licence holders fly RAAus reg aircraft here if endorsed and not have to do a certificate? Endorsement onto type YES by all means to show they can handle the LIGHTER TYPE aircraft. As far as I know ultralights in NZ only have to have a transponder to have access to CTA. Operations in control zones is included in pilot cert trg.
  20. Not what was quoted by the pilot to the Courier Mail? http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/pilot-tells-of-jabiru-emergency-landing-after-takeoff-from-weipa/story-fnihsrf2-1226662748272
  21. Last time I did mine it was via the CASA website to Aviation ID and when speaking with Aviation ID they said it was a few dollars cheaper to go via the CASA link than direct with them (Aviation ID). Anyway $200 is still alot! My wife has and ASIC also so she can come and go to the hangar with out being escorted. Some might say that is a BAD thing! Cheers
  22. Just received the scale of fees from CASA for the issue / renewal of an ASIC / AVID http://casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_101324 I guess ALL issueing authorities will now follow. I hope the current petition re ASIC's gets over the line. Cheers
  23. CASA CAP on AFR's http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:OLDASSET::svPath=/download/CAAPs/ops/,svFileName=5_81_1.pdf 12. What aircraft should I use? 12.1 The CARs clearly state that a flight review must be conducted in the aircraft in which the pilot had flown the most flight time during the last ten flights undertaken. In most circumstances this would probably represent the flying activities that the pilot generally conducts. Should be the SAME for RAAus! Cheers
  24. If doing a GA AFR it MUST be done in the aircraft that you have done most flying in over the past two years. I have to do mine in the RV9A. Can't understand why RAAus HAS to be different! It's like large rego numbers still required under left wing. Gone every where else. Cheers
