The one for sale at Bundy is the ONLY 701 in Aus with the Pegastol wing. The owner (Bob Clark) used to have it (aircraft) at Kilcoy and yes the pix on JG's stolspeed site is the aircraft that is for sale.

Bruce. I don't believe you can say that now as I believe there have been NO new registrations for over a month. The system can't of been far superior as we would not be in the position we now find ourselves in. I don't think NZCAA (can be corrected) send an inspector to NEW owner built microlights only LSA.

GA aircraft (incl experimental) owners are requested this info every year. I think it is for statistical reasons. I guess RAAus pass this info on. Cheers

Can't agree biggles. Alot of airfields are privately owned and / or operated and don't receive any of that tax you talk about and only rely on a "small" landing fee to contribute to the huge cost of operating the airfield. Running an aerodrome is NOT cheap. See post 6 above.

If a pilot can afford the fuel for the tank then they can afford the landing fee in my opinion. I run an aerodrome and know what it costs to maintain that aerodrome especially if Certified or Registered. Have just had CASA here for two days for the annual audit (Certified Aerodrome). If they went over everything in RAAus like they do with us then I can see why RAAus is in trouble with audits if all is not as it should be according to the Regs.

Good to see that the airport owners are at last trying to get what is owed. Avdata have been able to pass the bills to the owners for years so I guess Avdata are now just sending the bill to RAAus and let them (RAAus) get what is owed as they have the owners address details. I wonder if RAAus are adding a 10% collection fee. I did read in the magazine a few years back that that would happen.

I know Gavin (WA) rep emails out to all of us over here in the west. A number emails were received regarding Westfly. He has been quiet with emails though re the current issues although has at least posted on this site.... Cheers

VH registration for "everything" and problem goes away. I understand we already have a problem with HGFA people not being aloud to fly RAAus registered aircraft and visa versa. I can be corrected on this.

Ian, Why can't we follow the NZ line. Works with two organisations very well. Have CASA take over the aircraft registrations (VH-xxx) of ALL aircraft in Aus. This would ease the current problems we have with "Registrations". If run by CASA then it must be right! If CASA want to distinguish between GA and Ultralight registrations then have all ultralights as VH-U(uniform)xxx or something similar although this does not happen across the ditch. As in NZ register the aircraft as class 1 (single seat) or class 2 (two seat) ultralights with an up to 600KG MTOW. As in NZ allow training in class 2 wether amateur built or factory built as long as the engine etc is not out of the manufacturers stated TBO. Pilot certificates can still be issued by either RAAus or a second organisation. In NZ this is RAANZ or SAC. RAANZ is more like RAAus and SAC a company type set up. Aircraft maintenance is still done by the owner IF he wishes and an annual inspection is carried out by a RAANZ or SAC authorised inspector a bit like our L2 etc. There is NO annual fee for registration however there is an airways "activity" fee of around $100.00 PA I believe payable to NZCAA as the Safety Authority. My pennies worth Cheers

If the rego system we have here followed the simplicity of other countries then we would not require a consultant to over see the renewal. I guess there will be an increase in the annual rego fee announced very shortly along with fee increases to initial registration!

I note the MTOW of the USA version is only 500kgs. i.e. 225kgs payload. I havn't looked at things like max rough air speed etc which SHOULD be looked at closely when buying an aircraft for Aus conditions. Cheers

Thanks Mark. I asked the question a few posts back as I have not been able get my head around all this. We have now been told LSA can be moved to ELSA (19-xxxx) if the manufacturer goes out of buisness by some, can't by others as aircraft was not amateur built (which I can understand). Seems to me that this is far from simple. Cheers

A good post Mick, a couple of queries though. I understand that the early Foxbat aircraft have had a weight increase as the manufacturer has supplied an amendment to the certificate. the higher weight means a slightly less "G" factor. Is this the same for some of the Jab aircraft and possibly others? Re a manufacturer dissapearing (going broke or discontinueing that type) then what does this do to that LSA aircraft currently on the RAAus register? You say a LSA certified aircraft cannot be re registered ELSA and given say a 19 category registration. This could make an aircraft worthless. Something to think about when purchasing an aircraft that is 24 Registered?? Perhaps RAAus / CASA should publish some guide lines re this. I could buy your aircraft today and be grounded tomorrow Hmmm. Cheers

John. All aviation, marine and land transport (train) accidents / incidents etc are investigated and a Report published. In the NZ case the Police assist with the task. I am not sure how the report may affect a coroners Report. I understand charges can not be laid based on the accident / incident report by the Transport Accident Investigation Commission. (TAIC). I still can't see why the ATSB at least attend and report on any Fatal accidents involving RAAus, HGFA and ASRA etc.

Yenn, I was advised by CASA a few months back that if you build the plane then your name is on the build certificate but if the aircraft is sold then CASA's intent is that you should not be doing maintenance on that aircraft for the new owner. I have heard it being discussed in SAAA circles that an engine will not be able to be maintained by the builder unless that builder did 51% of the engine assy. Hmmm we will see. Cheers
