    Main Strip is 13/31 - 1269 metres long bitumen good condition cross strip is 04/22 - 914 metres long bitumen with typical black soil undulations. If it has rained, stay on bitumen and gravel taxiways due soft and boggy.... Avgas bowser operator accepts cash and cheque only, no carnet/credit card facility. Aerodrome gets Kingairs, Citations, Trojans, Yaks, Metros, PC-9s, PC12s etc so should be up to whatever we bring in:blush:

    Be interested to read what you have written about the boating places. I leave my boat at my brother's at Burpengary and launch out of Spinniker to go fishing, often thought about taking the misses somewhere as she has never been in the boat (I know why spoil a good thing!) and catch up with others at Dunwich for lunch or something similar.

    Excellent, I forgot about the club at massie. I was thinking about putting something together on the first weekend Feb here at Dalby, and wanted to gauge how many would be interested. I am also happy to support other's efforts, although might be a bit far to go and see qwerty this time around.

    After flying down to Evans Head on Sunday, it became apparent to me that we should have more opportunities to fly in somewhere and enjoy the comradrie of those like minded..After talking with some of the locals here in Dalby, the suggestion that I would like to air for a response would be either a Sunday Breakfast or Saturday afternoon BBQ with an option for those flying in to pitch a tent underwing or take up one of the many accommodation options in town. Not to clash with the Straddy breakfast, I would plan ours say on the first weekend of the month. Maybe to go hand in hand with this would be say a flyers bazaar where you can bring things to sell, swap or buy. So what do you reckon?

    I don't know about being a legend Tomo, if anyone deserves that handle, would have to be Matt Hall...made the visit to a great day out exceptional. The photos are also brilliant, thanks..I think we will be making you "Official Photographer" to our "Wings and Wheels" in August.

    Yep...looks like I'll be taking Tomo down in the arrow...I will also have a few left over polo shirts from 2008 Dalby Wings & Wheels to give away as well if anyone is interested.

    Brett, most of us have experienced the same thing at some stage so don't feel too bad...CASA have those questions designed to really put the pressure on..After I failed one, my instructor re-interated to me to RTFQ and RTFQ again....at least one answer will be stupid and two will be fairly close and that is where you will go wrong especially when you have the exam jitters don't try to rush through and do the practice exams...above all...stay calm and good luck..

    Looks like the strip hasn't changed much since I used it about ten years ago...still a nice strip..though the airpark development looks a little stalled to say the least. I've used the other strip at Inskip Point at times to go fishing (met mates with their boats which we launched off the beach) it is just as good and 800 metres long, so there you go Tomo, take your fishing gear and enjoy the great outdoors.

    Fasten your seat belt for a fantastic ride. This video is a once in a lifetime experience of a British civilian getting a flight at over 70,000 ft. in a U-2 spy plane. Please note at the take-off the assist wheels on the outer edges of the wings which drop off upon take-off. The wings are so long that they need temporary support until lift-off. What is not shown is at the landing the plane actually slows to a small enough speed that two guys are actually able to grab the wing tips and put those assist wheels back on. The civilian getting the ride is the host of the car show Top Gear on BBC (James May) shown through Europe at 9:00 pm last Sunday night in Belgium. The views are spectacular as the U-2 flies at altitudes which constitute "SPACE." We will more than likely see this in the new season of Top Gear on the Nine network, enjoy the ride in the meantime...     By the book it is 2,000ft to maximise full deployment and chute efficiency....but if you are not that high and your options are limited so be it just pull the handle and try to have happy thoughts (oh well back to the party...Happy new year to all:rilla:

    I used to dress metal props horizontal, wooden vertical (mainly because of moisture balance and minimise heat expansion of the different layers of prop timbers glued together if the aircraft was left outside). These days however, I leave the prop where the engine leaves it unless I go anal and do the horizontal and vertical thing...and for three blades = one blade up and two blades down:ban me please:

    Yep, shame about the plane, but if I was in an aircraft over water and experienced an engine failure as steve did, I would have done exactly what he did. (hell of a ride from 600ft though)The chute would have guaranteed that the initial impact with the water did not have the aircraft flipping over. Damn handy having that emergency hammer close by to break out through an emergency exit. Waiting for the cabin to fill up with water to equalise pressure to open doors is for the action heroes in the movies...and yes the cirrus sr22 can be included as a recreational aircraft as I have lots of fun flying them as well
