  6. Great News Emah We will be needing new skins when we finish our refurbishment towards the end of the year, will be looking you up.
  7. There is one sitting in the recreational flying Co hangar at Gympie it's a rotax 618 powered, very close to Drifter performance. Great aircraft not a patch on the drifter though.

    found a t300

Shafs64 if your looking for a bargan have a look at the RAAus market online there is a Drifter just put up for sale strut braced 582 motor and relativly close to you. $10k or close offer.
  9. If your looking for Drifters and their pilots close to Brisbane Gympie has 4 aircraft
  10. Out at the hangar a couple of weeks ago, wide eyed wonderment, like a kid in a chocolate factory. At a rough guess at least 12 new drifters could be built with the parts I saw just in the hangar. However I think reality must bring us down to earth, just how much are we willing to pay for a brand new Drifter. And for long term its gotta be 912 powered. Would you pay 50 to 60 k.
  11. http://airpigz.com/blog/2013/7/9/jack-ballys-manned-13-scale-b-17-nearly-ready-to-fly.html turning up to a fly in, in this would be a head turner.
  12. Not pilot error, wind flipped it onto its back no tie downs. Reminder to us SE Queensland people its the windy time of year.
  13. anyone know what happened at Biggenden Today very sorry looking aircraft sitting next to runway ???
  14. Mine had the same set up, switched it around so the back tank drained into the belly tank after a pump failure, worked great better than putting down in some field due to fuel starvation.
  15. XP503 you are right there but the back seat driver tends to get it more than the underside of the wings. Always aim for the cow pats when you have a passenger. Another plus for not having them is you can fit oversize rubber on the rims. So almost every landing feels like a good one.
  16. Mine really hates Brisbane and tells me so in an Irish accent
  17. Dont bother looks better without

  19. Mine came from Darwin to SE Queensland. I would remove the wing skins easy job. and roll as stated earlier. if its a suspended engine re the 503 I would remove it. the engine mounting tube is robust however 3 months after transport when I did an engine rebuild I found some really bad cracks in the tube. which the journey may not have caused but wouldnt have helped.
  20. Thanks Dave now anyone know who owns 25-0417
  21. Anyone have any information on repowering the drifter with a jabiru engine, I have been told there is one flying out there somewhere.

  23. Anyone in the Sunshine Coast area on Saturday 24th August will be welcomed at the Gympie Aero Club, for breakfast, cost $5.00 time between 8 am and 10 am. Location Gympie Airport. CTAF 126.7 runway 32/14.
  24. Saw a Drifter a few years ago with two 20 L jerry cans in holders attached directly above the wheel struts, we wont go into the hand pump attached to them for the passenger to transfer fuel to the main tank. pilot reckoned that balance was ok due to the weight over the c of g. would be a good place to store empty containers. my old plane used to carry a bicycle in the same position.
