    Gympie

Have it on good authority that breakfast will be served at GAC around 9 am if Blair can get out of bed
  3. Not only is Gympie a Drifter haven, the weather is great, different every day great cross winds for pushing your envelope. also 20 mins to the sea. and terrific views flying to the North and the West. Load of terrific guys at Gympie Flying Club. just the place to retire and just fly the Drifter. sorry just day dreaming
  4. Gympie is the place Recreational Flying Company is great I agree with Dave Mason. did my Nav's and Formation with those guy's very professional.
  5. Drifter Pilots will notice a few errors in this feature, still its good to see some one taking an interest in the good old Drifter

    Drifter Pics

    Just another pleasant Sunday
  7. 5 in Gympie and we will become the Drifter capital
  8. nothing better than owning a drifter. hope to upgrade my 503 model for a slightly more modern 582 next year, looked at other aircraft but none seem to be quite as good and fun as the Drifter.
  9. Mr Badger. have had the same thing happen loss of confidence, I did what a previous member suggested, take a flight with an instructor he or she should pick up any thing amiss with your flying if it exists. if not it should give you confidence to get back in the air. I think we have all been were you are now. PS hope it doesnt come to it but I would love to get my hands on a shadow streak.
  10. Hi Dave Peter Stanton here thank you for your honest account, of a distracted preflight when it comes tyo distraction Rocky is the master. Thanks to your story we are now inventing a preflight distraction flag that can be quickly attached to any part of the aircraft when the distraction occurs, that way when Rocky has been told to PO you can continue your preflight at the exact spot you were interrupted at. dont worry about almost losing a wheel Drifters fly cleaner with just 2 even better with one. Thanks to C722352 for the use of his log in. really must join this fantastic site

  12. Some of us are real dummies when it comes to these new fangled computers, but this is interesting and I would love to be able to use GE in this way, please explain in a way us cave men understand
  13. Flight of two Drifters to Teewah Qld. should have been three but mine was still sitting in a paddock in Biggenden, back in Gympie now so hopefully the next flight to Teewah will be three.
  14. After checking the log book, the fuel lines were replaced 18 months ago, and there doesnt seem to be a brand name on the lines but it does have in big letters made in the USA stamped all over them. re the filter I have been using a plastic throw away filter, changed every 10 hours, which made it hard to detect any major problems, I now have a glass filter before the disposable, so I can detect problems, love overkill these days. Thanks for the all the support
  15. I see Recreational Aviation Company here in Gympie has two drifters now on line for training and hire, so with mine there are three in Gympie who said Drifters are a dying breed.
  16. Yeh Ultralights thinking along the same lines with the Ethanol, could have got a batch of premium with that horrible stuff in it. but I have been strictly BP premium for the past few fills. will look into the brand name when I go out to change the fuel lines. its a bit of a bummer when you put down in a paddock a couple of hundred K's from home.
  17. I'm getting old and senile really must learn to type and read what I type before I send 95 indeed
  18. Just had my first and hopefully last unplanned landing, no real problems fan stops training kicks in see a paddock, drop the Drifter into it. took at least 15 minutes to compose myself after. no problems, however upon inspection of the fuel system I find large flakes of a black rubber compound in the filters, you guessed it the interior of the fuel lines was breaking down. upon talking to a retailer of said fuel lines, seems they do this quite often. Just something to keep an eye on. I was lucky the Gods were smiling on me that day. could have been a lot nastier.
  19. missed the Elev about 400 and 2000ft long yes ERSA is lacking
  20. think it could be 27/95 try google earth
  21. only way to fly wind in your hair bugs in your teeth, terrific shots
  22. only way to fly wind in your hair bugs in your teeth terrific
  23. What a great idea only wish I could join in the flying, bit to far for the Drifter to go, from the NT have fun.
  24. Maybe its time for members to run for local councils, Its not the best job in the world and yes who the hell would want it. But there are members out there who are a bit nuts, and up for the challenge.
  25. Gerry I'm taking the plunge and moving to Gympie this year, hope to see you around the airfield Robert:thumb_up:
