  1. Only gyro pilots know how those things work.
  2. All aircraft fuel tanks should have a finger filter to prevent the outlet becoming blocked by a "gumnut" Having coarse filters before a fine, 70 micron, filter will do nothing to reduce the risk of the fine filter blocking in the very rare event the tank becomes contaminated by fine gunk. The ACS filter does not have a huge surface area with that single flat disc strainer, however it will capture all those course items and keep them in the bottom of the gascolator for your viewing pleasure, unless one of those course items causes the drain to not shut off and you suffer fuel exhaustion due to lost fuel. (Thinking about the recent jabiru in the top end).
  3. I have the same bolly prop as extralite, m8x75 is the correct bolt with the 3mm face plate.
  4. It is a good looking filter in terms of easy servicing and security. One slight down side to the finer mesh, 70 microns, is increased chance of blockage. Gunk smaller than 120 micron, 0.12mm, would surely pass through the carburetor without causing a jet blockage?
  5. Not unlike a thruster at MTOW. A PILOT will instantly note any change in engine sound and act accordingly. Know your aircraft.
  6. Insurance? Insurance premiums are only going up with stupid shit like this.
  7. SAAA is close to getting AMTC3? certification approved. This will allow non builder owners of VH experimental to maintain their aircraft in the same manner as owners of RAAus aircraft. Once self declared medicals for RPL and PPl casa license holders is in the playing field will be level in respect to medical and maintenance for recreational aircraft. I have VH certified, VH experimental and RAAus aircraft so have been watching with bemusement as it all plays out. They are just aircraft and I like flying all of them.
  8. A few years back I did a retractable endorsement, later while checking my pilot status I was surprised to see no retract but had gained a centre line thrust multi engine rating plus pressurized. I checked plane sales for a cheap cessna p337😂. Took about 7 months to correct. Things happen.
  9. Yes the "fuel flow" gauge in an IO-xxxx Lycon engine aircraft is just a pressure gauge after all. Normally x amount of pressure results in a known calculated fuel flow, a partial or complete blockage in a fuel nozzle will upset the apple cart.
  10. I don't think mast bumping is limited to Robinson helicopters. Anyhow it is described in the POH. Know your aircraft, know the limits.
  11. It cannot be done.
  12. Last was 2006 FH16 @610hp two TOA tippers, conventional dolly road train, 11 axles. Beautiful quiet effortless truck with syncromesh gearbox (the equivalent of a nose wheel), retired in 2015.
  13. Should we start a new thread, how to load a truck correctly, just asking as a former part time (harvest only) road train driver.
  14. A stopped or broken engine has the highest manifold pressure (turbocharged excepted). Constant speed propellers mask engine problems.
  15. Friction. Correct amount of friction between propeller and flange results in no movement or heat. Incorrect, low friction results in movement, heat and eventuall departure of the propeller, simples.
  16. If the propeller is moving against the drive flange and that friction is creating heat the said propeller will soon depart the aircraft.
  17. Because the prop flange on a rotax has M8 METRIC, YES METRIC THREADS IN THE FLANGE. do keep up.
  18. Wrong side of the country for you but this would tick all the boxes. https://www.wingsoutwest.com/
  19. For anyone not familiar with the Rotax prop flange it has metric M8 threads. AN hardware including metal loc nuts CAN NOT BE USED.
  20. Perhaps you should explain your concern with the back of flange lock nuts, something I think about when applying torque to the lock nuts on my rotax 582.
  21. All four seat aircraft with about 3 people per aircraft.
  22. Eviation Alice has flown, two circuits at about 150knots.
  23. We recently flew to a farm tour and lunch day attended by some aircraft from Sydney, cost was $60 per person, everyone thought it quite reasonable.
  24. An operator near here had a 912iS efi aircraft, enough niggly problems they they chose carburetors when they upgraded their aircraft. The original aircraft later crashed due to loss of engine power....
  25. Cut the end off and fit a lexan window on the suction end, apply suction and make a video showing the oil flow. It would be good to see what happens. 🤔
