  1. With the bad weather we have been having, I took the day off and went for a little Nav from YCDR to YKRY back via YKCY. A nice little 145Nm flight but it was great to take my wife up again since she missed out on my flights in the US. Kaine's Aerial Photo and Videography
  2. I know that Tangalooma for 4x4, boaties and jetskis have been a big shun, they actively stopped serving them and require a day pass for anyone not a guest at the resort. They are almost impossible to get for weekends unless you book months in advance.

  4. Agree, I wouldn’t want to o/n without my wife either. so I need to keep her enjoying it.
  5. On Thursday I got to do another 1.4h flying from Southern Valley (U42) into Provo KPVU. My first experience with a towered airport. It was a great experience very friendly and controlled. 7 touch and goes. separation. I was a bit worried about my first experience with a tower but they were very good with me and by the 3rd circuit I was feeling very comfortable taking with them. Had a few planes in circuit plus an airbus a318 took off when I was on downwind so I had to slow up and extend downwind for my 120sec. Can’t wait to get back home and do some tower work.
  6. I’m visiting the US and yesterday I got to fly out of South Valley for 1.2h. Amazing taking off at 4600’ and flying at 7100’ and only being 2500’ agl. A big change from the SEQ coastal flying I’m used to. The red on the mountains here in Utah from the Fall looks awesome. Flying over the Salt lake is truely amazing. Another flight today and I can’t wait.
  7. No landing or overnight fees if you rent the apartment. Not sure about the 100h part but still... I’m only at 30h so I’ve got a bit of time to make it to 100h but very keen to do this. 9. Awesome work
  10. Ah that explains the haze.... yes i want to keep her happy with me flying as i love her company as well. Even when i go for a ride on the Busa, i love her being there. When flying I can turn the pax headset input down if i need to ;)
  11. Strict diet and lots of cardio with high rep weights.... it sucks big time
  12. I’ve just been going through the same problem. I have lost 13kg’s in the past 2 weeks and should be down to a reasonable BMI “for the med” but I have to do the fasting blood glucose test. But my neck has always been over 42cm even when I was in the army. I just have a thick neck... so if I want to fly a VH, it looks like I have to get a RAMPC, so I will still be restricted as I’m not going to go through the sleep study crap.

  14. Today I took my wife to Toowoomba Women’s in Aviation Brunch. I was hoping to get my wife more excited about leanring to fly. It was a great event there, amazing people. Flying from Caloundra in the Sling is always a great day even if it’s not crystal clear and smooth.... Unfortunately the fires near Somerset yesterday made for some haze plus the low cloud made it a bit bumpy. As I got closer to Somerset the sky’s cleared up and was a great flight. 15. I landed there today and must say it is a very nicely maintained strip, thank you for the good work.
  16. So today I got to take my wife whale watching, must have been 10-12 different pairs of whales inside Moreton Bay, with another 8 near Flinders Reef. My wife was super excited and of course being able to fly down the East side of the Island was amazing.
  17. Where is this? Is there an instructor I can get so I can do my RPC to PPL in it?
  18. Wow, if I could get a 172 for $40/h dry, I’d go there for sure.
  19. Yes I find that travelling to Caloundra is 1h 15min each way from Brisbane (I live in Spring Hill so its as central as you get). For a 1-2h flight the extra $15-$30h isn’t too bad given I am saving 1-2h travel time over some of the other area’s and as you pay as you use, the $15-$30/h isn’t as bad at the time. Now I am about to start my RPL, I am looking at a similar thing, do I spend more time travelling to save a few $$ or do I save my time for flying and make sure I manage fatigue better. When I was learning I would try to fly first thing Sunday mornings 7am on and I can get back to Brisbane before the traffic gets bad as well.
  20. For me, that’s an easy one: 1. It’s a very nice looking aircraft 2. I found it to be very comfortable and easy to fly. 3. It’s very modern and with the G3X makes it very appealing 4. The rate is not much more than a lot of the other aircraft in the similar area. 5. Great view from inside
  21. I think this has gotten way of topic. GoFly Caloundra $295 Dual / $295 Solo / $195 Private (http://goflyaviation.com.au/) GoFly briefings are not charged Air QLD Redcliffe $295 Dual / $225 Solo / $195 Private (Rates/FleetAir Queensland | Air Queensland) Brief $75/h Sunshine Coast Aero Club $259 Dual / $259 Solo / $169 Private (http://www.sunshinecoastaeroclub.com.au/aircraft-rates/) Short Brief $15 / Long Brief $45 Towered Airport - so limited times a RAAus member can fly private. That’s what I have found around me, I think there is a sling at Archerfield but haven’t found it searching the web yet.
  22. I fly with GoFly at YCDR and they are $295 dual and $195 private for the Sling 2. They don’t charge for briefings so that does help with some of the costs... it’s a very nice aerodrome as well.
  23. My mag only arrived today - not much time to vote and send back in time.
  24. My first Solo Nav today, what an awesome experience and feeling and an amazing day for it. Perfect conditions and an amazing view. My instructor threw me a curveball, making me fly to an airfield YMUB that doesn’t have any info listed so I google earthed it so I knew what to look for..... he wanted me to take photo of it :D - YCDR-Kenilworth-YGYM-YMUB-YKCY-YCDR Kaine's Aerial Photo and Videography
  25. Yeah just saw it on 7 news: Light plane crashes into lettuce field
