  1. I'm with you Tomo, I do it on a regular basis. It is very relaxing from 3000 feet, you have plenty of time to feel it and I love the quiet. I think it is better to know what you can do with your Aircraft BEFORE it does it to you. But make sure you can spot land at idle before you try it. I did not no it was prohibited ? Just my 2 Cents worth. I hope I haven't upset anyone with my comments. Cheers Monty
  2. Thanks Tomo, Very interesting, how big can they go ? and when is big enough "big enough" ? Monty
  3. Welcome along H, Great to here that your instructor is good and you are enjoying yourself. Keep us informed about the journey along the way.A great place Townsville, not too far from me. Monty
  4. Hi Ultralights, I agreee with the softer bumps bit. If it is rough I fly about 46/48 knots and it is real soft and comfortable it does move around a bit but still handles and feels very safe. I think that is a part of the fun flying one of the old style Rag and Tube ultralights and it's a "TAILDRAGGER" Monty
  5. Just my 2 cents Bacchas, My wife is a nervous flyer and there are winds and thermals all the time out here in Central Western Qld. She will not fly in a mates Jab or even a cessna on a bad day because she recons you can feel every bump when you are enclosed in the aircraft, However she will fly in the Drifter on a bad day with the wind in your face you don't notice it any where near as much. Thats Her opinion. It depends on what you want. Monty
  6. Send him out to Winton Qld, I have some holes out here that he wont climb out of. My strip is along side the road out front of my house and the Drifter is in sight in the shed he can't miss it!! Monty
  7. Thanks for the info Bilby, I am sure that there are a lot who didn't know. Monty
  8. Welcome along Bruce, I hope you enjoy the site and forums, I don't mind a few tinnie's but you are a bit far for me.maybe one day? Monty

There is a wealth of info here on this site so don't be afraid to ask if you need any info on the build. Keep us informed on how you are going with it. Monty
  11. Hi Wayne, There was a FI at Woodstock with a Drifter, about 40km west of Townsville. His name is Steve O'Donald I think and number is 0414304893. There are a couple of instructors and strips around that area I think. Just hang on and someone from around there will let you know for sure. I am sure That Maj Millard can help you. Monty
  12. Thanks Motz, We all learn from other peoples experience, thanks for sharing and glad that you both are OK. Monty
  13. G'Day Patrick, Welcome to the site and I hope you enjoy the forums and everything goes OK with the Flying. I use to live in Beaudesert near Boonah 20 years ago, I am not sure about the flight school but I couldn't think of a nicer place to fly around. Fantastic scenery and a very friendly town, Real people down there. It would be my pick. Monty
