  1. It took meow aisle to get it.
  2. Well actually...they are a charity...only we pay them.
  3. At 50 kms realistically not too many Ra Aus aircraft are going to have the glide performance to make land even at maximum height...might buy you some time before you get wet. Depending on wind it could cost you some time...
  4. I agree. But for goodness sack lets not become the sort of people and flying fraternity that is sunk under an overweight burden of restrictions that would stop anyone's right to try. Lest we forget... Flying is about calculated risk is it not?
  5. It was all in the audits...remember the problems CASA found with Regos in the report were just a small sample they selected for audit...
  6. That is pretty reasonable for a good quality pair of specs these days ...
  7. I had to mark it all informative...paints an informative picture when so many of us are so confused about the rules we are supposed to operate under.
  8. I saw him wring the nuts of a XXXX Pitts over the Isa Rodeo...a few years ago now. Was the first time I saw a Pitts flown in anger and I was impressed I can tell you. The Pitts did the city centre mounted on a truck during the infamous Mount Isa Mardi-Gra...
  9. Was that the only one in Australia?
  10. I guess at $5 per hour it sounds better...I was just thinking that $35k is a lot of money for a Blanik... Again if you spread that cost over 7000 hours and factor in the price of a new club trainer it maybe makes sense... What do clubs buy these days of they want a NEW trainer?
  11. Dafydd Are you saying it would cost $35k to upgrade an L13?!???
  12. Believe me Nev don't I know it...during my short stint in in Hospital I liked the environment so much I decided it might be a less stressful place to work...I was right...believe me I know how important looking after yourself is...it's been an eye opener.
  13. Not too sure about the Doctors DoT thing... I had a minor heart murmur a few years ago and I specifically discussed this issue with my Doctor...he was unconcerned...I self grounded myself from flying as PIC without an instructor... The paperwork involved in providing details about patients with heart issues would have to be enormous on the health system...and I don't know what the rules say ... but I would be surprised if it was being done ...
  14. Sounds like yours had an irritating whining noise too...
  15. I take it back...the sight is certainly up to date...
  16. That "list" is I believe quite old now...I wonder if it is still active?
  17. My family travelled thousands of kilometres towing sailplanes ... including plenty of dirt ... It can be done ... the Sailplane fraternity has been doing it for years... As previously pointed out ...the correct equipment makes all the difference.
  18. It is up to the members to comply with the regs.... IT IS UP TO RA AUS TO ENSURE THEY ARE THROUGH A SYSTEM OF SELF AUDITING... And it has been for a long time...this is what self regulation means...
  19. Not Ra-Aus's fault???!!!??? I thought the basic underlying reason Ra existed was to monitor compliance to these regs through a SMS which includes at it's core an audit system that ensures this sort of stuff wasn't happening... Too many of us are blaming the victims..
  20. So....given that "they" ARE out there.... wouldn't it make sense that both parties (RA-Aus and CASA) would have a strong interest in utilising the available resources to clear the issue up quickly? Especially given it appears the funds are available...
  21. I am surprised that no one seems to recognize this market...so many say it themselves...."Raa is over 65s who want a few creature comforts...etc etc" who have the disposable "income" for a $100 000 flying machine. If no one recognizes that this is EXACTLY why someone needs to create a market with a bit of growth potential rather than rely on the last generation who lets face it ...are the last of their kind (sorry guys but it's true) ...
  22. The YouTube channel of the guy is pretty amazing... He is a specialist at displaying fire weaponry to great effect...check out his enormous catalogue of weaponry you won't be disappointed! "Word" is that Russians alter ego is a US online gamer of some repute. Of course this clip is a fake... But it is certainly ENTERTAINING I am sure you would agree.
  23. My two bobs worth. I reckon the market is there...not readily but there for the taking nonetheless. People pay $30 ooo for a tinnie... And people pay $150 dollars an hour to hire a $100000 airplane... Surely if certified to hire the investment for flying schools is worthwhile.
  24. Ouch. That is dreadful. How unlucky is that?
